Multilocus Sequence Typing (MLST) for Characterization of Enterobacter cloacae
Enterobacter cloacae is an important emerging pathogen, which sometime causes respiratory infection, surgical site infection, urinary infection, sepsis, and outbreaks at neonatal units. We have developed a multilocus sequence typing (MLST) scheme utilizing seven housekeeping genes and evaluated the performance in 101 clinical isolates.

Probiotic Development Strategy Centered on Stability and Regulatory Considerations
ABSTRACT The development of probiotic strains has become a major focus in both academic and industrial research, driven by their health benefits and growing consumer demand. However, functional outcomes demonstrated under laboratory conditions often fail to align with the stability and large‐scale performance required for industrial applications ...

Anthropogenic‐derived E. cloacae colonises marine cooling water systems, where chlorine exposure drives cross‐resistance and enhances biofilm formation, creating hotspots for barnacle larval settlement. This work reveals a previously unrecognised mechanism linking microbial pollution to marine biofouling.

Genetic Diversity of Polymyxin Resistance Genes in Klebsiella pneumoniae Clinical Isolates
ABSTRACT This study investigates the genetic diversity and evolutionary mechanisms driving polymyxin resistance in Klebsiella pneumoniae, a critical priority pathogen. By analysing mgrB, phoPQ and pmrAB genes in susceptible (PM‐S) and resistant (PM‐R) populations through neutrality tests (Tajima D, Fu & Li's D) we uncovered polygenic adaptation and ...

Reassessment of MLST schemes for Leptospira spp. typing worldwide
Leptospirosis is a neglected zoonosis of global importance. Several multilocus sequence typing (MLST) methods have been developed for Leptospira spp., the causative agent of leptospirosis. In this study we reassessed the most commonly used MLST schemes in a set of worldwide isolates, in order to select the loci that achieve the maximum power of ...
