Modulation of Homer1 EVH1 domain internal dynamics by putative autism‐associated mutations

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The putative autism‐associated M65I and S97L variants of the EVH1 domain of the postsynaptic scaffold protein Homer1 do not exhibit substantial changes in their overall structure or partner binding. Both of them, but especially the M65I variant, show altered internal dynamics relative to the wild‐type domain on the μs‐ms timescale, indicated by the ...

A Mode Shape Identification Method of Timber Pieces Based on Relative Rigid Displacement Decomposition

open access: yesBioResources
As a commonly used method in the field of structural dynamic characteristics, mode shape identification currently relies largely on animation demonstrations of finite element modal analysis. This method is highly susceptible to the observer’s perspective

The pyruvate generator is a common phenomenon in mitochondria from different rat and mouse brain regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The pyruvate generator, which causes activation of respiration by extra‐mitochondrial Ca2+, is also present and functional in rat brainstem mitochondria, as it is in other brain regions. This finding is confirmed by experiments with a fully reconstituted malate–aspartate shuttle (MAS).

Mode shapes variation of a composite beam with piezoelectric patches

open access: yes, 2011
In this paper the modal shapes of a light, thin laminate beam with active elements were evaluated. Cases with one or two Macro Fiber Composite (MFC) active elements adhered onto a glass-epoxy cantilever beam were analyzed. The systems under consideration

The ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy as guardians of the cellular proteome

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This Perspective covers the three principles governing the crosstalk between the ubiquitin‐proteasome system and autophagy in cellular proteostasis: (1) a shared ubiquitin code routing substrates via shuttle factors or autophagy receptors; (2) spatial compartmentalization into phase‐separated degradation hubs and organelle‐specific modules (exemplified

Resonance tests - vibration mode shapes from the wing torsion group

open access: yes, 2009
Resonances of the „ wings torsion " mode shapes to a large extent depend on the structural parameters of the wing, and more specifically to the existence or not of fuel tanks at the wings ends, munitions hard points or engines mounted on the wings.

An unexpected alternative viologen electron mediator site in tungsten‐containing formate dehydrogenase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
An unexpected alternative interaction site for ethyl viologen was identified in formate dehydrogenase 1 from Methylorubrum extorquens. Combined mutagenesis, kinetic analysis, and docking revealed that aromatic residues near an iron–sulfur cluster enable flavin mononucleotide‐independent electron transfer, offering a framework for engineering improved ...

FEA-Based Vibration Modal Analysis and CFD Assessment of Flow Patterns in a Concentric Double-Flange Butterfly Valve Across Multiple Opening Angles

open access: yesVibration
A concentric double-flange butterfly valve (DN-500, PN-10) was analyzed to examine its dynamic behavior and internal fluid flow across multiple opening angles.
