Characterizing Efficacy of Alternative Media for Requirements Expression

open access: yesSystems
Requirements are most commonly expressed in natural language, but alternative media can be employed. Previous research has established the viability of model diagrams and engineering drawings for requirements expression.

Model-Based Systems Engineering for Systems Simulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Model-Based Systems Engineering and early simulation based Validation & Verification are now key enablers for managing the complexity in the development of modern complex systems like Cyber-Physical Systems. Models provide a formal account of system requirements and design decisions.

A Model-Based Approach for Requirements Engineering for Systems of Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Model-based systems engineering (MBSE) is a discipline of systems engineering in which the model forms the heart of all the systems engineering activities and is the basis of many of the project artefacts. Systems modeling is no longer viewed as simply a

Phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinase as a target of pathogens—friend or foe?

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This graphical summary illustrates the roles of phosphatidylinositol 4‐kinases (PI4Ks). PI4Ks regulate key cellular processes and can be hijacked by pathogens, such as viruses, bacteria and parasites, to support their intracellular replication. Their dual role as essential host enzymes and pathogen cofactors makes them promising drug targets.

MODEL BASED SYSTEMS ENGINEERING INTRODUCTION WITHIN INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING CURRICULUM

open access: yesDS 95: Proceedings of the 21st International Conference on Engineering and Product Design Education (E&PDE 2019), University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. 12th -13th September 2019, 2019
Systems Engineering (SE) has been initially developed to manage large complex system development in the defence or aerospace industry. As the complexity of product increases, the product development approaches evolved accordingly. Complex architectures have to be developed including multiple disciplines of engineering (software, electronics, mechanics ...

Crosstalk between the ribosome quality control‐associated E3 ubiquitin ligases LTN1 and RNF10

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of the E3 ligase LTN1, the ubiquitin‐like modifier UFM1, or the deubiquitinating enzyme UFSP2 disrupts endoplasmic reticulum–ribosome quality control (ER‐RQC), a pathway that removes stalled ribosomes and faulty proteins. This disruption may trigger a compensatory response to ER‐RQC defects, including increased expression of the E3 ligase RNF10 ...
