High yield production of the antifungal proteins PeAfpA and PdAfpB by vacuole targeting in a TMV‐based expression vector

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 1, Page 313-327, January 2026.
Summary Antifungal proteins (AFPs) derived from filamentous fungi show great potential against economically significant fungi that cause plant diseases and consequently threat food safety and security. This study focuses on the Penicillium expansum PeAfpA and Penicillium digitatum PdAfpB proteins and their activity against several phytopathogens.

Generation and plant production of recombinant fluorescent immunoglobulin G as innovative immunodiagnostic reagents

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 1, Page 300-312, January 2026.
Summary Immunodiagnostic systems for on‐site screening are increasingly in demand but require expensive reagents such as chemically modified antibodies. To obtain biomolecules as ready‐to‐use reagents for diagnostics, new recombinant fluorescent immunoglobulins G were generated by fusion of the heavy chain of a monoclonal antibody, 5H3, to two ...

The Mycovirus Cryphonectria Hypovirus 1 Infects the Heterologous Host Fusarium oxysporum and Induces Hypovirulence

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 75, Issue 1, January/February 2026.
The Cryphonectria parasitica hypovirus CHV1 efficiently replicates in the heterologous host Fusarium oxysporum, inducing clear hypovirulence, and has the potential to persist and spread in this pathogen by constant infections and re‐infections through hyphal anastomosis.

Stress Nutrition in Aquatic Animals: From Definition to Practice

open access: yesReviews in Aquaculture, Volume 18, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Aquaculture faces numerous challenges, with stress being one of the major issues that lead to growth loss, metabolic disorders, weakened immunity, redox imbalance, and organ damage in aquatic animals. Nutritional intervention is one of the effective strategies to address these problems. Traditional research has primarily focused on the impacts

Standards and agro-food exports from developing countries: rebalancing the debate [PDF]

open access: yes
The proliferation and increased stringency of food safety and agricultural health standards is a source of concern among many developing countries. These standards are perceived as a barrier to the continued success of their exports of high-value agro ...
