Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Design of cooling system in space solar array simulator

open access: yesDianzi Jishu Yingyong, 2019
For the high power solar array simulator, the requirements such as high power, miniaturization and modularization are higher. In this paper the total power of the simulator is 2.4 kW with the chassis height is no more than 2U.

Siegel modular forms of genus 2 and level 2

open access: yes, 2015
We study vector-valued Siegel modular forms of genus 2 and level 2. We describe the structure of certain modules of vector-valued modular forms over rings of scalar-valued modular forms.Comment: 46 pages.

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

Small molecule autoencoders: architecture engineering to optimize latent space utility and sustainability

open access: yesJournal of Cheminformatics
Autoencoders are frequently used to embed molecules for training of downstream deep learning models. However, evaluation of the chemical information quality in the latent spaces is lacking and the model architectures are often arbitrarily chosen ...

Function‐driven design of a surrogate interleukin‐2 receptor ligand

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interleukin (IL)‐2 signaling can be achieved and precisely fine‐tuned through the affinity, distance, and orientation of the heterodimeric receptors with their ligands. We designed a biased IL‐2 surrogate ligand that selectively promotes effector T and natural killer cell activation and differentiation. Interleukin (IL) receptors play a pivotal role in

A modular method for the extraction of DNA and RNA, and the separation of DNA pools from diverse environmental sample types

open access: yesFrontiers in Microbiology, 2015
A method for the extraction of nucleic acids from a wide range of environmental samples was developed. This method consists of several modules, which can be individually modified to maximize yields in extractions of DNA and RNA or separations of DNA ...

Modular Markovian Logic [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We introduce Modular Markovian Logic (MML) for compositional continuous-time and continuous-space Markov processes. MML combines operators specific to stochastic logics with operators reflecting the modular structure of the models, similar to those used by spatial and separation logics.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Experimental Control of Two Connected Fixed Wing Aircraft

open access: yesAerospace, 2018
This paper investigates the design and flight test of two fixed wing aircraft connected at the wing tips. Connecting multiple aircraft introduces flexible modes into a typically rigid body system.
