A preliminary preclinical assessment of macromolecular crowding in tissue engineering
Objectives Although bone marrow mesenchymal stromal cells (BMSCs) are extensively used in biomedicine, they have yet to be used in the commercial development of a tissue engineered medicine. It has been argued that the major roadblock in their commercial

Reconstructing enzyme evolution by protein engineering
Natural enzyme evolution can be retraced by protein engineering methods such as directed evolution, rational design, and ancestral sequence reconstruction. These approaches reveal how enzymes emerged from ligand‐binding scaffolds, developed varying substrate preferences, formed oligomeric complexes, adapted to environmental changes, and evolved novel ...

Conserved binding mode but diverse interfaces of MreC‐PBP2 interactions
The crystal structure of abMreC reveals a conserved two β‐barrel architecture and provides structural insights into its role within the bacterial elongasome. The abMreC–abPBP2 complex model identifies the molecular basis of MreC‐mediated PBP2 recognition, contributing to the regulation of peptidoglycan synthesis.

Novel discrete diaphragm system of concrete high-rise modular buildings
Modular high-rises are attractive for metropolises, but few applications exist, partly due to the lack of knowledge about their lateral behaviors. Existing concrete modular high-rises usually adopt a time-consuming and labor-intensive cast-in-situ ...

The role of miR‐335‐5p in the redifferentiation of BRAF p.V600E thyroid cancers
The BRAF p.V600E mutation promotes thyroid cancer dedifferentiation and radioiodine resistance. Using a network approach, we identified miR‐335‐5p as a key regulator of BRAF‐mutated thyroid tumors. Restoring miR‐335‐5p increased thyroid‐specific gene expression and iodine uptake in cells and organoids.
