Dynamic Testing of Cold Gas Sprayed Bipolar Plates–Porous Transport Layer Coating System in Proton Exchange Membrane Water Electrolysis

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Through direct application of porous transport layer (PTL) on the bipolar plate (BPP) with thermal spraying, the interfacial contact resistance is improved. With the cold gas sprayed BPP–PTL coating system, a proton exchange membrane water electrolysis cell with a cell voltage of Ucell = 1.9 V can be operated up to i = 2.5 A/cm2 in a dynamic mode ...

Determining optimum assembly zone for modular reconfigurable robots using multi-objective genetic algorithm

open access: yesScientific Reports
Reconfigurable modular robots can be used in application domains such as exploration, logistics, and outer space. The robots should be able to assemble and work as a single entity to perform a task that requires high throughput.

A Knowledge‐Based Approach for Understanding and Managing Additive Manufacturing Data

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing processes generate a large amount of data. Effectively managing, understanding, and retrieving information from this data remains a major challenge. Therefore, we propose an ontology‐based approach to integrate heterogeneous data, enable semantic queries, and support decision‐making.

Exploiting Deep Semantics and Compositionality of Natural Language for Human-Robot-Interaction

open access: yes, 2016
We develop a natural language interface for human robot interaction that implements reasoning about deep semantics in natural language. To realize the required deep analysis, we employ methods from cognitive linguistics, namely the modular and ...

Unified Modular Snake Robot

open access: yesInternational Journal for Research in Applied Science and Engineering Technology, 2022
Abstract: Every animal on earth has its own distinct feature and is capable of surviving on its own. Throughout history, humans have been inspired by the characteristics of animals to solve mankind's challenges. Reptiles possess various characteristics which can be used to solve societal issues when imparted in the form of a robot.

A Lightweight Procedural Layer for Hybrid Experimental–Computational Workflows in Materials Science

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
We unveil a prototype hybrid‐workflow framework that fuses automatedcomputation with hands‐on experiments. Built atop pyiron, a lightweight, parameterized layer translates procedure descriptions into executable manual steps, syncing instrument settings, human interventions, and data capture in real‐time today.

Duplication of modules facilitates the evolution of functional specialization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
The evolution of simulated robots with three different architectures is studied. We compared a non-modular feed forward network, a hardwired modular and a duplication-based modular motor control network.

A Mechatronics-Embedded Pneumatic Soft Modular Robot Powered via Single Air Tube

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
Soft modular robots have advantages, including infinite degrees of freedom and various configurations. Most soft robots are actuated by inflating air pressure into their chambers. However, each chamber is connected to a tube that provides the air supply,
