60 GHz and 94 GHz antenna-coupled LiNbO_3 electrooptic modulators [PDF]

open access: yes, 1993
Antenna-coupled LiBbO_3 electrooptic modulators can overcome the material dispersion which would otherwise prevent sensitive high-frequency operation. The authors previously demonstrated the concept with a phase modulator at X-band.

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Organizing the interface—Plasma membrane architecture and receptor dynamics in virus‐cell interactions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Plasma membranes contain dynamic nanoscale domains that organize lipids and receptors. Because viruses operate at similar scales, this architecture shapes early infection steps, including attachment, receptor engagement, and entry. Using influenza A virus and HIV‐1 as examples, we highlight how receptor nanoclusters, multivalent glycan interactions ...

Role of TREK-1 in Health and Disease, Focus on the Central Nervous System

open access: yesFrontiers in Pharmacology, 2019
TREK-1 is the most studied background K2P channel. Its main role is to control cell excitability and maintain the membrane potential below the threshold of depolarization.

Koszul Modules

open access: yesJournal of Pure and Applied Algebra, 2005
From the authors' introduction: Consider a noetherian local ring \(R\) with maximal ideal \(\mathcal M\) and residue field \(k\). Given a finitely generated \(R\)-module \(M\) and \(F\) its minimal free resolution, denote \(\text{lin}^R(F)\) the associated graded complex of \(F\) arising from the standard \(\mathcal M\)-adic filtration.

The neural crest‐associated gene ERRFI1 is involved in melanoma progression and resistance toward targeted therapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
ERRFI1, a neural crest (NC)‐associated gene, was upregulated in melanoma and negatively correlated with the expression of melanocytic differentiation markers and the susceptibility of melanoma cells toward BRAF inhibitors (BRAFi). Knocking down ERRFI1 significantly increased the sensitivity of melanoma cells to BRAFi.

High-Performance Hybrid Silicon and Lithium Niobate Mach-Zehnder Modulators for 100 Gbit/s and Beyond

open access: yes, 2018
Optical modulators are at the heart of optical communication links. Ideally, they should feature low insertion loss, low drive voltage, large modulation bandwidth, high linearity, compact footprint and low manufacturing cost.

In vitro models of cancer‐associated fibroblast heterogeneity uncover subtype‐specific effects of CRISPR perturbations

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Development of therapies targeting cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) necessitates preclinical model systems that faithfully represent CAF–tumor biology. We established an in vitro coculture system of patient‐derived pancreatic CAFs and tumor cell lines and demonstrated its recapitulation of primary CAF–tumor biology with single‐cell transcriptomics ...
