NUTRITIVE VALUE OF JUMBO GRASS (SORGHUM BICOLOUR SORGHUM SUDANEFE) SILAGE IN LACTATING NILI-RAVI BUFFALOES [PDF]

open access: yesPakistan Veterinary Journal, 2009
This study was conducted to evaluate the feeding value of Jambo grass (Sorghum bicolour Sorghum sudanefe) silage as a replacement of conventional fodder (Jambo grass; JG) in the diet of lactating Nili Ravi buffaloes (Bubalus bubalis).

Comparing Individual Grass Intake of Dairy Cows in 3 Grass‐Based Systems Using 3 Methods: Automated Weighing Bins, Net Energy Evaluation, and n‐Alkanes

open access: yesGrass and Forage Science, Volume 80, Issue 4, December 2025.
ABSTRACT Estimating fresh grass intake of grazing cows is important for effective management, but direct measurements are inherently difficult in grazing systems. Therefore, this study compared 3 methods to estimate fresh grass intake of dairy cows: automated weighing bins (Roughage Intake Control; RIC), net energy evaluation (VEM), and n‐alkanes.

In vitro gas production and in vivo nutrient digestibility and growth performance of Thai indigenous cattle fed fresh and conserved pangola grass

open access: yesItalian Journal of Animal Science, 2017
Fresh and conserved pangola grass (Digitaria eriantha Steud., synonym D. decumbens) were compared in terms of in vitro gas production and in vivo nutrient digestibility, metabolisable energy (ME) concentration and average daily gain (ADG) of Thai ...

Development of a consolidated bioprocess for the production of citric acid using Aspergillus niger as biocatalyst

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, Volume 19, Issue 6, Page 1622-1630, November/December 2025.
Abstract The industrial production of citric acid, an ingredient in beverages, pharmaceuticals, and cosmetics, is based on microbial fermentation of glucose or sucrose. Given the elevated cost of these sugars, lignocellulosic biomass is emerging as a cost‐effective and environmentally friendly feedstock for sustainable bioprocesses.

Exploiting agricultural residues for sustainable bioconversion: production of cellulolytic and lignin‐degrading enzymes

open access: yesBiofuels, Bioproducts and Biorefining, Volume 19, Issue 6, Page 1997-2010, November/December 2025.
Abstract Agroindustrial activity generates substantial waste during harvesting and processing. This study investigated the potential use of sugarcane bagasse, corn cob husk, and wheat bran as substrates for enzyme production by Aspergillus niger and Ceriporiopsis subvermispora. Aspergillus niger and C. subvermispora exhibited comparable filter paperase

Biochar in Animal Agriculture: Enhancing Health, Efficiency and Environmental Sustainability

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 11, Issue 6, November 2025.
Biochar enhances animal agriculture by improving gut health (8%–26% higher feed efficiency), reducing methane emissions (up to 22%) and ammonia volatilization (40%–77%) and sequestering carbon. Challenges include variability in quality and economic feasibility, but its integration offers a sustainable path for productivity and environmental stewardship.
