Enhanced nucleation of bimodal molecular weight distribution polymers: A molecular dynamics study

open access: yes, 2023
We perform coarse-grained molecular dynamics (CGMD) simulations to study the homogeneous nucleation of bimodal and unimodal molecular weight distribution polymers with equivalent average molecular weight.

Fish Scale Valorization by Hydrothermal Pretreatment Followed by Enzymatic Hydrolysis for Gelatin Hydrolysate Production

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
Protein hydrolysates from fish by-products have good process suitability and bioavailability in the food industry. The objective of this work was to develop a method for protein recovery from fish scales and evaluate the hydrolysis of the scale protein ...

TRAIL‐PEG‐Apt‐PLGA nanosystem as an aptamer‐targeted drug delivery system potential for triple‐negative breast cancer therapy using in vivo mouse model

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Aptamers are used both therapeutically and as targeting agents in cancer treatment. We developed an aptamer‐targeted PLGA–TRAIL nanosystem that exhibited superior therapeutic efficacy in NOD/SCID breast cancer models. This nanosystem represents a novel biotechnological drug candidate for suppressing resistance development in breast cancer.

Molecular weight distribution of polysiloxanes produced via protocol 2.

open access: yes, 2022
Ring-opening polymerization following “protocol 2” produced two liquid polysilioxanes that spontaneously separate in two phases with different densities and are referred as fluid C (red) and fluid D (blue).

Circular RNA expression landscapes in myelodysplastic neoplasms: Associations with mutational signatures and disease progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In this explorative study, the abundance of circular RNA molecules in bone marrow stem cells was found to be elevated in patients with high‐risk myelodysplastic neoplasms, and to be associated with an increased risk of progression to acute myeloid leukemia.

Antioxidant and ACE Inhibitory Activity of Enzymatic Hydrolysates from Ruditapes philippinarum

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
Ruditapes philippinarum proteins were hydrolyzed by trypsin, neutrase, and pepsin. The antioxidant activities and ACE inhibitory activity of hydrolysates were analyzed and the antioxidant activities were related to their molecular weight distribution and

Pre‐analytical optimization of cell‐free DNA and extracellular vesicle‐derived DNA for mutation detection in liquid biopsies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pre‐analytical handling critically determines liquid biopsy performance. This study defines practical best‐practice conditions for cell‐free DNA (cfDNA) and extracellular vesicle–derived DNA (evDNA), showing how processing time, storage conditions, tube type, and plasma input volume affect DNA integrity and mutation detection.

Examination of the Molecular Mass of Polyhydroxypolyamides

open access: yes, 2010
The work described in this thesis investigated the use of size exclusion chromatography (SEC) to fractionate a variety of different polyhydroxypolyamide (PHPA) samples for analysis by matrix assisted laser desorption ionisation-time of flight ...

Analyzing the Molecular Weight Distribution in Supramolecular Polymers

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society, 2009
We have investigated the formation process of supramolecular linear polymer chains and its influence on the resulting chain length distribution function. For this purpose, we explored the migration of excitation energy between oligofluorene units coupled together through quadruple hydrogen-bonding groups to form linear chains that are terminated by ...
