Functionalized Antifouling Polymer Brushes for Biospecific Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Modern biosensors offer high sensitivity but often struggle with long‐term stability and selectivity for specific targets. Antifouling polymer brushes help enhance both stability and selectivity. In this review, we compare recent antifouling coatings, their design parameters, and how they are integrated with biorecognition elements for improved ...

Nanostructured 316L Stainless Steel Stent Surfaces Improve Corrosion Resistance, and Enhance Endothelization and Hemocompatibility

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study investigates the impact of nanostructured surface modification on corrosion resistance, HUVEC functions, and platelet interactions of 316L SS for cardiovascular stents. Nanostructured surfaces enhanced HUVEC proliferation, migration, and angiogenesis‐related gene expression while reducing platelet adhesion and hemolysis.

Electrical Monitoring of Vibrio vulnificus–Host Cell Membrane Interactions in Simple and Complex Matrices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Supported lipid bilayers coupled with multielectrode array devices offer significant promise for pathogen–host cell membrane interaction studies. This work demonstrates, for the first time, the compatibility of this platform with biological fluids, in this case whole human blood, essential for any future point‐of‐care applications; as well as its ...
