Decreased monodehydroascorbate reductase activity reduces tolerance to cold storage in tomato and affects fruit antioxidant levels.

open access: yes, 2013
International audienceFruit antioxidants are necessary for human health and also have physiological roles in protecting fruit against oxidative stress.

Multigene families encode the major enzymes of antioxidant metabolism in Eucalyptus grandis L

open access: yesGenetics and Molecular Biology, 2005
Antioxidant metabolism protects cells from oxidative damage caused by reactive oxygen species (ROS). In plants, several enzymes act jointly to maintain redox homeostasis.

Natural Allelic Variations in IbCHYR1–IbZnFR Complex Regulate Fusarium Root Rot Resistance in Sweet Potato

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 33, September 4, 2025.
FfRlpA2, a conserved Fusarium effector, functions as a protease inhibitor by hijacking the E3 ubiquitin ligase IbCHYR1 to degrade the resistance factor IbZnFR, thereby promoting Fusarium pathogenicity. Conversely, the high dosage Pro::IbZnFRHap2 allele was associated with resistance to root rot disease.

Graphene oxide enhances aphid resistance in sorghum via the miR319‐SbTCP7‐SbLOX3 Pathway

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 23, Issue 8, Page 3164-3176, August 2025.
Summary The aphid (Melanaphis sacchari) has emerged as a formidable pest, devastating sorghum plants and highlighting the need for sustainable management strategies. Graphene oxide (GO), as a novel material, has garnered attention for its use in crop cultivation and management, but its effects on biotic stresses remain elusive. Here, we used 10 mg/L GO

Production and scavenging of reactive oxygen species in plant cells under cadmium stress

open access: yesAgronomy Journal, Volume 117, Issue 4, July/August 2025.
Abstract Cadmium (Cd) causes the excessive accumulation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) in plant cells, inhibits plant growth, and reduces crop productivity (e.g., grain yields). However, our understanding of Cd migration, ROS accumulation, and the underlying mechanisms in plant cells remains limited.

Application of Ferulic Acid to Alleviate Chilling Injury of Banana Fruit by Regulating Redox, Phenylpropanoid, and Energy Metabolism

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 6, Issue 4, Page 1824-1837, July 2025.
This study investigated the effect of ferulic acid (FA) on the cold tolerance of banana fruit under 6°C‐storage for 7 days. In comparison with control, 3 mM FA treatment significantly alleviated chilling symptoms of banana fruit by enhancing phenylpropanoid metabolism and maintaining redox and energy homeostasis. ABSTRACT Banana fruit is susceptible to

Response of Monodehydroascorbate Reductase in Lettuce Leaves Subjected to Low Temperature Stress [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Life Science, 2011
The relationship between MDHA reductase activity and ascorbate, dehydroascorbate, and hydrogen peroxide content was evaluated, and this experiment was conducted to determine the change of MDHA reductase activity and the level of steady-state mRNA abundance of MDHA reductase in lettuce leaves subjected to low temperature stress.

NADH-Monodehydroascorbate Oxidoreductase Is One of the Redox Enzymes in Spinach Leaf Plasma Membranes1

open access: yes, 1998
Amino acid analysis of internal sequences of purified NADH-hexacyanoferrate(III) oxidoreductase (NFORase), obtained from highly purified plasma membranes (PM) of spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.) leaves, showed 90 to 100% homology to internal amino acid ...

Streamline Protocol for Arabidopsis Apoplastic Fluid Isolation Enables a Detailed Proteomic View of the Plant Extracellular Space

open access: yesPlant Direct, Volume 9, Issue 7, July 2025.
ABSTRACT The apoplastic space surrounding plant cells, encompassing the cell wall matrix, extracellular spaces, and xylem, is one of the least understood compartments within plant tissues due to its lack of limiting membranes and its unavoidable damage upon tissue homogenization. Using a streamlined vacuum‐infiltration/centrifugation protocol to enrich

Exogenous sucrose influences antioxidant enzyme activities and reduces lipid peroxidation in water-stressed cucumber leaves

open access: yesBiologia Plantarum, 2015
To investigate whether exogenous sucrose can protect cucumber from water stress, cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) seedlings were pretreated with 90 mM sucrose or 90 mM mannitol for 1 d and then were dehydrated with 10 % (m/v) polyethylene glycol (PEG) 6000 ...
