Cytochrome P450 monooxygenases

open access: yesCurrent Opinion in Chemical Biology, 1998
The field of P450 research is progressing rapidly. The active sites of structurally characterized bacterial P450 enzymes have been rationally re-engineered to alter both substrate specificity and selectivity of substrate oxidation. Many human P450 enzymes have been functionally expressed and new methods of substrate turnover described.

Degradation Potential of the Nonylphenol Monooxygenase of Sphingomonas sp. NP5 for Bisphenols and Their Structural Analogs

open access: yesMicroorganisms, 2020
The nonylphenol-degrading bacterium Sphingomonas sp. strain NP5 has a very unique monooxygenase that can attack a wide range of 4-alkylphenols with a branched side chain.

UPO‐Mimetic Engineering of CYP199A4 Enables Enhanced Peroxygenase Activity via the Hydrogen Peroxide Shunt Pathway

open access: yesChemistryEurope
Engineering an acid–base dyad into the peroxygenase‐enabled mutant CYP199A4T252E yielded four in silico‐designed double mutants, of which CYP199A4F182R/T252E showed the best dyad‐like geometry and was characterized further.

Inhibition of human squalene monooxygenase by tellurium compounds: evidence of interaction with vicinal sulfhydryls

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 2001
Squalene monooxygenase is a flavin adenine dinucleotide-containing, microsomal enzyme that catalyzes the second step in the committed pathway for cholesterol biosynthesis. Feeding weanling rats a diet containing 1% elemental tellurium causes a transient,

Fungus-originated glucanase and monooxygenase genes in creeping bent grass (Agrostis stolonifera L.).

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
Recent studies have revealed presence of fungus-originated genes in genomes of cool-season grasses, suggesting occurrence of multiple ancestral gene transfer events between the two distant lineages.

VpStyA1/VpStyA2B of Variovorax paradoxus EPS: An Aryl Alkyl Sulfoxidase Rather than a Styrene Epoxidizing Monooxygenase

open access: yesMolecules, 2018
Herein we describe the first representative of an E2-type two-component styrene monooxygenase of proteobacteria. It comprises a single epoxidase protein (VpStyA1) and a two domain protein (VpStyA2B) harboring an epoxidase (A2) and a FAD-reductase (B ...

First insights into structure-function relationships of alkylglycerol monooxygenase

open access: yesPteridines, 2013
Alkylglycerol monooxygenase is a tetrahydrobiopterin-dependent enzyme that cleaves the O-alkyl-bond of alkylglycerols. It is an exceptionally unstable, hydrophobic membrane protein which has never been purified in active form.

Unraveling the Role of P450 Reductase in Herbicide Metabolic Resistance Mechanism

open access: yesPlant Direct
Plants require cytochrome P450 reductase (CPR) to supply two electrons for cytochrome P450 monooxygenase enzymes (P450) to react with an organic substrate.

Peptidylglycine monooxygenase activity of monomeric species of growth hormone

open access: yesHeliyon, 2019
C-terminal α-amidation of peptides is an important event in the course of pro-hormone and neuropeptide processing; it is a modification that contributes to the biological activity and stability of about 25 peptides in neural and endocrine systems.

Preventive Effect of a Polyphenol-Rich Extract from Geranium sanguineum L. on Hepatic Drug Metabolism in Influenza Infected Mice

open access: yesScientia Pharmaceutica, 2020
The decreased hepatic drug metabolism (predominately first phase) is one of the essential reasons for numerous side effects and for increased drug toxicity during influenza virus infection (IVI).
