Trends in gabapentinoid prescribing: A nationwide Danish drug utilization study

open access: yesBritish Journal of Clinical Pharmacology, EarlyView.
Aims Pregabalin and gabapentin are increasingly used for pain and other conditions. Concerns exist about overuse as well as potential misuse and abuse. To guide rational prescribing practices, we provide detailed nationwide data on the use of gabapentinoids in Denmark.

Sleep quality and quantity determined by polysomnography in mechanically ventilated critically ill patients randomized to dexmedetomidine or placebo

open access: yesActa Anaesthesiologica Scandinavica, Volume 67, Issue 1, Page 66-75, January 2023., 2023
Abstract Background Abnormal sleep is commonly observed in the ICU and is associated with delirium and increased mortality. If sedation is necessary, it is often performed with gamma‐aminobutyric acid agonists such as propofol or midazolam leading to an absence of restorative sleep.

The Effect of Memantine on the Expression of Dopamine Receptors in the Striatum of Male Rats With Morphine Addiction [PDF]

open access: yesMajallah-i Dānishgāh-i ̒Ulūm-i Pizishkī-i Qum, 2023
Background and Objectives: Studies have indicated that the chronic use of morphine can result in physical and psychological dependence. Morphine dependence is associated with several cellular and molecular alterations in the mesocorticolimbic system, and

DNMT3a in the hippocampal CA1 is crucial in the acquisition of morphine self‐administration in rats [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Drug‐reinforced excessive operant responding is one fundamental feature of long-lasting addiction‐like behaviors and relapse in animals. However, the transcriptional regulatory mechanisms responsible for the persistent drug‐specific (not natural rewards)

Ingested placenta blocks the effect of morphine on gut transit in Long–Evans rats [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
Opioids produce antinociception, and ingested placenta or amniotic fluid modifies that antinociception. More specifically, ingested placenta enhances the antinociception produced by selective activation of central n-opioid or y-opioid receptors but ...

Nonconventional Techniques in Plant Alkaloid Extraction: A Decade of Progress (2014–2023)

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
This figure seeks to represent the evolution of the different unconventional approaches that were adopted for the extraction of plant‐derived alkaloids during the decade from 2014 to 2023. ABSTRACT Plant metabolism encompasses primary and secondary pathways, with secondary metabolism yielding diverse natural products crucial for plant adaptation and ...

The Effect of Memory Reinforcement by Cholinergic Agonist and Music on Creating Morphine Dependency in Mice Using Conditioned Place Preference (CPP) Method

open access: yesفصلنامه دانشگاه علوم پزشکی جهرم, 2013
The most important side effect of addictive drugs is their interaction with nervous system so that soon after taking the drug, the neurons̉ connections in nervous system are addicted to receiving the drugs frequently. The aim of this study was the effect

The gamma-aminobutyric acid type B (GABAB) receptor agonist baclofen inhibits morphine sensitization by decreasing the dopamine level in rat nucleus accumbens

open access: yesBehavioral and Brain Functions, 2012
Background Repeated morphine exposure can induce behavioral sensitization. There are evidences have shown that central gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) system is involved in morphine dependence.
