Straub tail, the deprivation effect and addiction to aggression [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2006
It has been observed that male mice who are consistently winning fights with conspecifics can raise their tail, which is very similar to a morphine-induced Straub tail response. Since this response is a typical index of opiate activation, it has been proposed that the opioidergic systems of such mice are chronically activated.

Role of Pharmacokinetic Effects in the Potentiation of Morphine Analgesia by L-Type Calcium Channel Blockers in Mice

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2004
The present study was designed to investigate the pharmacokinetic interaction of morphine with three classes of L-type calcium channel blockers (CCB) and its relationship to morphine-induced mechanical antinociception in mice.

Morphine-6-glucuronide is responsible for the analgesic effect after morphine administration: a quantitative review of morphine, morphine-6-glucuronide, and morphine-3-glucuronide.

open access: yesBritish Journal of Anaesthesia, 2014
BACKGROUND Morphine-6-glucuronide (M6G) is a strong µ-receptor agonist with higher affinity than morphine itself. It has been suggested that M6G contributes to the analgesic effect after administration of morphine, but the extent of its contribution ...

High‐throughput liquid chromatography‐vacuum differential mobility spectrometry‐mass spectrometry for the analysis of isomeric drugs of abuse in human urine

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
This report describes the potential of vacuum differential mobility spectrometry (DMS) as an additional separation dimension to reduce liquid chromatography (LC‐MS) analysis time while maintaining good quantitative performance. A 1‐min trap/elute LC‐vDMS‐SIM/MS method for quantification of 11 drugs of abuse was developed and applied to the analysis of ...

The Role of Spinal PKCγ in Tolerance and Hyperalgesia Induced by Repeated Morphine Administration in Male Rats

open access: yesIranian South Medical Journal, 2018
Background: The aim of this study was to investigate the possible role of Protein Kinase Cᵧ (PKCᵧ) in morphine tolerance and induced hyperalgesia following repeated morphine administration in male rats.  Material and Methods: Rats were divided into

Multianalyte Approach—Including Automated Preparation of Calibrators—for Validated Quantification of 82 Drugs in Whole Blood by Liquid Chromatography–Tandem Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesDrug Testing and Analysis, EarlyView.
In forensic bioanalysis, often multianalyte approaches are used given their increased effectiveness but can be difficult to develop and maintain in the laboratory, for example, in terms of calibrator solution preparation. A fast, simple, and robust liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry (LC–MS/MS) method for the quantification of 82 classic ...
