Cynomolgus monkeys and morphine tolerance and dependence
Drug and Alcohol Dependence, 1985Cynomolgus monkeys readily developed tolerance to and physical dependence on morphine indistinguishable from that produced by an identical dose regimen in rhesus monkeys.

Effect of neurohypophyseal hormones on morphine dependence
Psychoneuroendocrinology, 1977Abstract (1) The development of physical dependence on morphine is facilitated in rats treated with [desglycinamide9-arginine8]-vasopressin (DG-AVP) or with oxytocin. (2) Oxytocin appeared to be more potent than DG-AVP. (3) The essential elements of vasopressin and oxytocin required for facilitating morphine tolerance and physical dependence, are ...

Prolyl-leucyl-glycinamide (PLG) facilitates morphine dependence
Life Sciences, 1976Abstract The development of physical dependence to morphine is facilitated in rats treated with [desglycinamide (9), arginine (8)] -vasopressin (DG-AVP) or with oxytocin. Oxytocin appeared to be more potent than DG-AVP. The essential elements of vasopressin and oxytocin required for facilitating morphine tolerance and physical dependence, are located

Acute physical dependence upon morphine in rats
Behavioral Biology, 1973An investigation was made to determine if physical dependence would develop after a small number of large intravenous injections of morphine. Six rats, given 150 mg/kg injections 8 hr apart for 2 days and then allowed to withdraw, exhibited a mean of 90% of the abstinence symptoms measured.

Separation of Morphine Analgesia from Physical Dependence
Science, 1984Intravenous infusion of morphine sulfate in rats for 24 hours produced marked opioid dependence, manifested by a series of well-documented signs appearing after injection of the opiate antagonist naloxone. Treatment of rats with naloxonazine significantly reduced the analgesia associated with the morphine infusions for more than 24 hours.

Butorphanol precipitates abstinence in morphine dependent rats
European Journal of Pharmacology, 1989Butorphanol precipitated a withdrawal syndrome in rats receiving continuous intracerebroventricular infusions of morphine for three days. However, the potency of butorphanol to induce defecation, urination, teeth chattering and escape behavior was one to two orders of magnitude less on a molar basis than that of naloxone.

Nihon yakurigaku zasshi. Folia pharmacologica Japonica, 1976
The spontnaeous morphine intake ratio (M-SIR) under free access to morphine-admixed food and quinine-admixed food conditions was measured for 3 weeks in naive and morphine-experienced rats. In the case of morphine (0.5 mg/g of food) vs. quinine (0.5 mg/g of food), naive rats gradually increased M-SIR from 17% to 77%.
