Optoelectronic properties of defective MoS$_2$ and WS$_2$ monolayers
We theoretically explore the effect of metal and disulphur vacancies on electronic and optical properties of MoS$_2$ and WS$_2$ monolayers based on a Slater-Koster tight-binding model and including the spin-orbit coupling.

Interface Trap Density Metrology of state-of-the-art undoped Si n-FinFETs
The presence of interface states at the MOS interface is a well-known cause of device degradation. This is particularly true for ultra-scaled FinFET geometries where the presence of a few traps can strongly influence device behavior.

Interactions and magnetotransport through spin-valley coupled Landau levels in monolayer MoS$_{2}$
The strong spin-orbit coupling and the broken inversion symmetry in monolayer transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) results in spin-valley coupled band structures.

The role of spin-orbit coupling in topologically protected interface states in Dirac materials
We highlight the fact that two-dimensional materials with Dirac-like low energy band structures and spin-orbit coupling will produce linearly dispersing topologically protected Jackiw-Rebbi modes at interfaces where the Dirac mass changes sign.

Preparation of Hybrid Molybdenum Disulfide/Single Wall Carbon Nanotube–n-Type Silicon Solar Cells
Carbon nanotube/silicon (CNT/Si) heterojunction solar cells represent one new architecture for photovoltaic devices. The addition of MoS2 to the devices is shown to increase the efficiency of the devices. Two structures are explored.

The aim of this study is to investigate new materials that can be employed as cathode hosts in Li-S batteries, which would be able to overcome the effect of the shuttling of soluble polysulfides and maximize the battery capacity and energy density ...

Dipole trap model for the metallic state in gated silicon-inversion layers
In order to investigate the metallic state in high-mobility Si-MOS structures, we have further developed and precised the dipole trap model which was originally proposed by B.L. Altshuler and D.L. Maslov [Phys. Rev. Lett.\ 82, 145 (1999)]. Our additional
