ABSTRACT Background Chronic micro‐inflammation in patients with end‐stage renal disease (ESRD) is a significant driver of cardiovascular complications and diminished quality of life. While standard hemodialysis (SHD) effectively manages small‐molecule clearance, its ability to remove medium‐to‐large uremic toxins—the primary catalysts of systemic ...

Parkinson's Disease: A Review about Pathogenesis, Treatment and Experimental Models [PDF]
Parkinson disease (PD) is the second most common age-related neurodegenerative disease after Alzheimer disease, characterized by loss of dopaminergic neurons in substantia nigra pars compacta, accompanied by motor and non-motor symptoms. Idiopathic PD is

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.
