Differential display of mRNA

Molecular Biotechnology, 1998
Differential display of mRNA (DD) is a technique in which mRNA species expressed by a cell population are reverse transcribed and then amplified by many separate polymerase chain reactions (PCR). PCR primers and conditions are chosen so that any given reaction yields a limited number of amplified cDNA fragments, permitting their visualization as ...

Identification of differentially expressed mRNA during pancreas regeneration of rat by mRNA differential display

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 2002
Pancreatectomy (Px) is known to cause islet hypertrophy and is a putative method to mimic hyperglycemia representing type II diabetes mellitus. Therefore, finding new genes related to pancreatectomy will help to understand the molecular mechanism of hypertrophy and hyperglycemia, and may provide new diagnostic markers of type II diabetes.

Automated detection of differentially expressed fragments in mRNA differential display

Electrophoresis, 2001
We present a novel method for the automated detection of fragments showing dissimilar expression in mRNA differential display. The analysis is based on aligning the numerical electrophoretic lane data in respect of a given distance function defined on a set of fragments, or signal peaks in general.

Analysis of similarity of electrophoretic patterns in mRNA differential display

Electrophoresis, 2000
We present a novel method of statistical analysis for the comparison of electrophoretic data. The method is based on the squared Euclidian distance of normalized signal data vectors of electrophoretic lanes. The differences in the electrophoretic patterns are evaluated by a statistical test based on Hubert's statistics which measures the significance ...

Differential display of mRNA

1997
Most biological processes rely on changes in the level and pattern of gene expression. Their molecular and functional dissection often requires the isolation and subsequent characterization of genes that are differentially expressed in space (different tissues or organs), in time (different developmental stages), or in only one sex.
