Detection of an mRNA Polymorphism by Differential Display
Molecular Biotechnology, 2001Differential display technology was utilized to compare programs of gene expression in primary cultures of human skin fibroblasts from normal volunteers and patients diagnosed with melancholic depression. Polymorphic transcripts of a single gene differing by one tandem repeat sequence of four nucleotides (TGAT) in the 3' noncoding region were detected.

Differential Display of mRNA by PCR
Current Protocols in Neuroscience, 1997AbstractThis unit outlines the polymerase chain reaction (PCR)‐based technique of mRNA differential display, which identifies genes that are differentially expressed between cells or tissues. The approach described here is a modification of the original method, referred to as single base‐anchored differential display.

Differential Display of Expressed mRNAs
1997Biological responses to processes including stimulation with growth factors or cell differentiation depend on changes in the expression of the 50000–100000 genes that are encoded in the genomes of higher eukaryotes. Therefore, it is important that the technology used for monitoring changes in gene expression is able to detect quantitative and ...

mRNA Differential Display Analysis of Nephrotic Kidney Glomeruli
Nephron Experimental Nephrology, 1999Background: Differential display RT-PCR (DDRT-PCR) is a new powerful technique for identification and characterization of altered gene expression in eukaryotic cells and tissues. We studied here changes in kidney glomerular gene expression in patients with congenital nephrotic syndrome of the Finnish type (CNF), an inherited kidney ...

mRNA differential display of gene expression in colonic carcinoma
ELECTROPHORESIS, 2002We analyzed changes in gene expression in human colonic carcinoma by fluorescent mRNA differential display. RNA isolated from two samples of normal colon and four cases of colonic adenocarcinoma were amplified with a 15 x 32 set of primers resulting in 2880 cDNAs analyzed with an automated sequencer.

Chapter 30 Differential mRNA Display
1995Publisher Summary This chapter focuses on differential ribonucleic acid (RNA) display, which was devised to compare gene expression in two or more cell types and to clone differentially expressed genes rapidly. The principle of the technique is to amplify specific subpopulations of messenger RNA (mRNA), using reverse transcription and polymerase ...

Differential Display of mRNAs Regulated by G-Protein Signaling
2002Helerotrimeric GTP-binding proteins (G proteins) play important roles in transducing signals from seven-transmembrane receptors to intracellular signaling cascades. On stimulation of a G-protein-coupled receptor, G proteins are activated, and in turn stimulate intracellular signaling pathways that regulate transcription.

In many applications, an understanding of differentially expressed genes in different tissues or owing to an applied stimulus is important. However, the wide use of two rather similar polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based techniques for the identification of differentially expressed mRNAs (RNA fingerprinting by arbitrarily primed PCR [RAP-PCR] and ...

We have modified recently developed methods of RNA fingerprinting and differential display based on arbitrarily primed PCR which can be used for detection and cloning of differentially expressed mRNAs. Our protocol requires only a single cDNA synthesis for each different RNA sample, in contrast to the multiple cDNA reactions required for differential ...

The Coupling of Differential Display and AFLP Approaches for Nonradioactive mRNA Fingerprinting
Molecular Biotechnology, 1999We have modified the differential display of 3'-end restriction fragments of cDNA technique by combining it with the amplified fragment length polymorphism (AFLP) approach and silver staining. Modified oligo-dT primers were used for a reverse transcription step.
