Muc5ac Expression Protects the Colonic Barrier in Experimental Colitis [PDF]

open access: yesInflammatory Bowel Diseases, 2020
Abstract Background The mucus gel layer (MGL) lining the colon is integral to exclusion of bacteria and maintaining intestinal homeostasis in health and disease. Some MGL defects allowing bacteria to directly contact the colonic surface are commonly observed in ulcerative colitis (UC).

Single‐Cell Transcriptomics and Metabolomics Reveal Glutamate Dehydrogenase as a Central Regulator of Nitrogen Metabolic Remodeling During Alkalinity Adaptation in Crustaceans

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Single‐cell transcriptomics reveals the cellular response of Macrobrachium hainanense to carbonate alkalinity stress. Alkalinity stress impairs branchial ammonia excretion, induces mitochondrial dysfunction, and drives cell‐type‐specific changes in gills and hemocytes.

M1/MUC5AC mucin released by human airways in vitro [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Respiratory Journal, 1999
A series of monoclonal antibodies which bind to a mucin known as M1 (anti-M1 MAbs) have also been shown to detect the product of the human gene MUC5AC. The aim of this investigation was to determine the concentration of the M1 mucin in the surface epithelium of human bronchial preparations by means of immunohistochemistry and in the bronchial fluid ...

Overcoming Drug Resistance by Paclitaxel Resistance in Triple‐Negative Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the murine triple‐negative breast cancer (TNBC) model, chemotherapy effectively increases tumor neoantigen burden (TNB). Here, the study constructs a liposomal nanovaccine using antigens derived from in vitro chemotherapy‐treated paclitaxel‐resistant TNBC 4T1 cells.

Sputum MUC5AC and MUC5B pQTL.

open access: yes, 2023
Hyper-secretion and/or hyper-concentration of mucus is a defining feature of multiple obstructive lung diseases, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Mucus itself is composed of a mixture of water, ions, salt and proteins, of which the

Targeting the YAP‐BST2 Axis Overcomes Intrinsic Anti‐PD‐1 Resistance in Metastatic Gastric Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Concurrent YAP hyperactivation and Tp53 loss in Atp4b‐expressed parietal cell lineage drives gastric cancer initiation, multi‐organ metastasis, and intrinsic resistance to anti‐PD‐1 therapy. BST2 emerges as a direct YAP‐TEAD transcriptional target that engages PIRA2 on myeloid cells to establish an immunosuppressive microenvironment.

Secretory Mucin MUC5AC in Gastrointestinal Malignancies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Secretory mucin MUC5AC is an extensively glycosylated high molecular weight protein that forms a polymeric gel layer over the epithelial layers under physiological conditions, to protect these surfaces from myriad of insults.

Fluorescent Anti-MUC5AC Brightly Targets Pancreatic Cancer in a Patient-derived Orthotopic Xenograft [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
BackgroundOverexpression of mucin-5AC (MUC5AC) makes it a targetable biomarker in pancreatic cancer. The present study evaluated tumor targeting with a MUC5AC antibody conjugated to a near-infrared dye in a patient-derived orthotopic xenograft (PDOX ...

A General High‐Throughput Mucus Microrheology Platform for Quantitative and Scalable Mucus Phenotyping

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
High‐throughput Differential Dynamic Microscopy measures frequency‐resolved mechanical fingerprints from 3 to 10 μL$\umu{\rm L}$ mucus samples using only a few minutes of operator attention per sample. This automated analysis enables scalable mucus phenotyping for translational research by distinguishing mechanical heterogeneity among donors, disease ...
