A Sub‐Microsecond Switch Enabling SWIFT 23Na Imaging at 10.5 T

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 96, Issue 4, Page 1991-2003, October 2026.
ABSTRACT PurposeTo enable sodium SWIFT imaging, which is a zero‐echo time imaging technique, at ultra‐high magnetic fields through the development of custom electronics hardware, and to showcase this capability with in vivo imaging results. MethodsThe custom hardware developed consists of a high‐speed optical trigger with 10 ns resolution, an in‐bore ...

Simultaneous T2, T2*, and R2′ Mapping for Multiple Sclerosis Using Nonlinear Model‐Based Reconstruction of Undersampled Radial RARE‐EPI MRI

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 96, Issue 4, Page 1872-1892, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose To demonstrate the synergy of undersampled radial 2in1‐RARE‐EPI acquisition and nonlinear model‐based reconstruction for accelerated and simultaneous T2, T2*, and R2′ mapping in brains of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS). Methods 2in1‐RARE‐EPI combines a RARE module with an EPI module to capture T2 and T2* information.

A Comparison of Tissue Property Values Estimated Using Conventional Cardiac MRF and MT‐Cardiac MRF

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 96, Issue 4, Page 1806-1813, October 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose To evaluate the impact of explicitly modeling Magnetization Transfer (MT) during reconstruction of cardiac Magnetic Resonance Fingerprinting (cMRF) maps on T1 and T2 quantification. Methods cMRF data were reconstructed using two dictionaries: a conventional cMRF dictionary that ignores MT processes, and an MT‐cMRF dictionary modeling ...

The initial results of MRI-TRUS fusion prostate biopsy in high volume tertiary center

open access: yesRadiology and Oncology
Multiparametric magnetic resonance imaging (mpMRI) is a prerequisite for targeted prostate biopsy. The aim of our study was to evaluate the performance and learning curve of the mpMRI-transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) software image fusion (MRI-TRUS fusion ...

A Machine Learning Approach That Measures Extracellular pH Within an In Vivo Tumor Model Using acidoCEST MRI

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 10, October 2026.
Machine learning models, particularly RFR (random forest regression), provide accurate and computationally efficient tumor pHe estimation from acidoCEST MRI without requiring auxiliary parametric maps. RFR achieved comparable performance to traditional Bloch fitting (RMSE: 0.020 vs.

Optimal Control‐Based RF Pulses Versus Classical Motion‐Encoding Strategies for In Vivo Hepatic MR Elastography Across Multiple Excitation Frequencies in Mice: Reproducibility Assessment

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 10, October 2026.
Optimal control (OC)–based motion encoding doubles SNR in vivo in murine hepatic MRE by eliminating motion‐encoding gradients and enabling shorter echo times. Quantitative liver stiffness measurements remain consistent with conventional MEG‐MRE across multiple excitation frequencies, supporting longitudinal studies and clinical translation ...

Kidney Structure and Blood Flow Predict Function and Enable Image‐Based eGFR With Non‐Contrast MRI

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 10, October 2026.
Multiparametric renal MRI in healthy adults identified cortical thickness (r² = 0.38) and renal blood flow (r² = 0.29; both p < 0.001) as the strongest predictors of creatinine‐based eGFR. Together, these measures explained 47% of eGFR variability. Prospective validation demonstrated low bias (−4.9 to 3.4 mL/min/1.73 m²) and good accuracy (p30: 87%–92%)

The Influence of Prostate Volume on Magnetic Resonance Imaging Diagnostic Performance and the Adjunctive Role of Prostate‐Specific Membrane Antigen Positron Emission Tomography in Detecting Clinically Significant Prostate Cancer

open access: yesTrends in Urology &Men's Health, Volume 17, Issue 5, October 2026.
ABSTRACT To evaluate the influence of prostate volume on the diagnostic accuracy of multiparametric MRI (mpMRI) in detecting clinically significant prostate cancer (ISUP Grade ≥ 2), using radical prostatectomy (RP) histopathology as the reference standard.

The ‘Prostate Cancer Screening for People at Genetic Risk of Aggressive Disease’ (PATROL) study

open access: yesBJU International, Volume 138, Issue 4, Page 600-606, October 2026.
Background Inherited (germline) pathogenic and likely pathogenic variants (gPVs) in key genes associated with increased risk of prostate cancer (PCa) now warrant more attentive PCa screening per National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) guidelines—e.g., BRCA2, HOXB13, ATM, BRCA1, MSH2, MSH6, CHEK2 and TP53.
