Epigenetic blind spots – the role of DNA methylation dynamics in stem cell‐based models of embryogenesis

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Embryo‐like structures (stembryos) are an innovative tool, but they are hindered by experimental variability and limited developmental potential. DNA methylation is crucial for mammalian development, but its status in stembryo models is poorly characterized.

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Multiple Testing Techniques in Growth Econometrics

open access: yes
This paper discusses two longstanding questions in growth econometrics which involve multiple hypothesis testing. In cross sectional GDP growth regressions many variables are simultaneously tested for significance.

On spike and slab empirical Bayes multiple testing

open access: yes, 2018
This paper explores a connection between empirical Bayes posterior distributions and false discovery rate (FDR) control. In the Gaussian sequence model, this work shows that empirical Bayes-calibrated spike and slab posterior distributions allow a ...

Harnessing Multiple Source Test Cases in Metamorphic Testing: A Case Study in Bioinformatics

open access: yes, 2017
© 2017 IEEE. Metamorphic testing (MT) has been applied to software verification, validation and quality assessment. In most previous studies, research has focused on deriving metamorphic relations (MRs) such that the input of one or more follow-up test ...

Wound-dependent infection by Nigrospora oryzae causes sugarcane leaf spot: pathogen characterization and fungicide sensitivity

open access: yesFrontiers in Plant Science
IntroductionNigrospora oryzae is increasingly detected in sugarcane fields, but its infection biology and effective chemical control options remain unclear.MethodsWe isolated the causal fungus from symptomatic sugarcane leaves and identified it using ...

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.
