Hsp90-containing multiprotein complexes in the eukaryotic microbe Achlya

open access: yesCell Stress & Chaperones, 1998
In the oomycete fungus Achlya ambisexualis, hyphae of the male strain undergo sexual differentiation in the presence of the steroid hormone antheridiol. Earlier studies demonstrated that antheridiol binds with high affinity to a 9S multiprotein complex from A. ambisexualis cytosols.

The spleen–brain axis in Alzheimer's disease and related dementias: Integrating immune and metabolic regulation

open access: yesAlzheimer's &Dementia, Volume 22, Issue 3, March 2026.
Abstract Emerging evidence highlights the central role of peripheral immune–metabolic regulation in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD). Among peripheral organs, the spleen has gained increasing attention as a critical immune–metabolic hub linking systemic homeostasis to central neurodegeneration.

The TOR Signaling Pathway in Spatial and Temporal Control of Cell Size and Growth

open access: yesFrontiers in Cell and Developmental Biology, 2017
Cell size is amenable by genetic and environmental factors. The highly conserved nutrient-responsive Target of Rapamycin (TOR) signaling pathway regulates cellular metabolic status and growth in response to numerous inputs.

Understanding Neurodegenerative Diseases From the −Omics Perspective: Lessons Learnt

open access: yesAnnals of Neurology, Volume 99, Issue 3, Page 566-587, March 2026.
[Color figure can be viewed at www.annalsofneurology.org] As the population ages, certain neurodegenerative diseases (NDs) are becoming a major health issue. For this reason, this review will focus on the most common ND with onset after 65 years old; Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, Lewy body dementia, and frontotemporal dementia.

Inflammasome — a new look at the therapy of cardiovascular diseases. Part II

open access: yesРоссийский кардиологический журнал
The role of inflammasomes in cardiovascular diseases has not been sufficiently studied at present. However, there are a number of recent studies showing the participation of these multiprotein complexes in the development and progression of ...

Disassembly of intact multiprotein complexes in the gas phase

open access: yesCurrent Opinion in Structural Biology, 1999
The observation of multiprotein complexes by mass spectrometry formerly relied upon chemical cross-linking to maintain interactions. Recent technological developments have enabled the observation of intact macromolecular complexes without modification.

Discovery of a Dual‐Target DNAzyme for Clostridioides difficile and Listeria monocytogenes Diagnostics

open access: yesChemistryEurope, Volume 4, Issue 3, March 2026.
A newly discovered fluorogenic DNAzyme, RFD‐CD3, enables rapid and sensitive detection of Clostridioides difficile and—unexpectedly—Listeria monocytogenes, making it the first dual‐responsive DNAzyme for two unrelated bacterial pathogens. Its strong catalytic efficiency, pH‐tolerant activity, and modular trans‐acting design position it as a promising ...

Macrophage‐derived galectin‐3 contributes to pyroptosis, apoptosis and necroptosis through TLR4/MyD88/NF‐κB/NLRP3 during atherosclerosis

open access: yesClinical and Translational Medicine, Volume 16, Issue 3, March 2026.
Pyroptosis, apoptosis and necroptosis of macrophages occur concurrently during atherosclerosis. Galetein‐3 and NLRP3 are highly expressed in atherosclerotic lesions. Galectin‐3 is principally expressed in macrophages within atherosclerotic plaques. Galectin‐3 interacts with NLRP3, activates TLR4/MyD88/NF‐κB/NLRP3 signal axis, and promotes PANoptosis ...
