This review examines how cellular behavior is regulated by mechanical cues transmitted through soft biomaterials, from single‐cell mechanosensing to tissue‐level adaptation. It highlights why physiological relevance, rather than model complexity alone, is critical for translational mechanobiology and introduces a scoring framework linking material ...

Membrane Sealing in Frog Skeletal-Muscle Fibers [PDF]
Self-sealing, not found in frog skeletal muscle fibers immersed in Ringer's solution, can be induced by solutions rich in calcium ion. Strontium replaced calcium on the sealing process, but magnesium did not. The sealing accomplished in high-calcium media was preserved in those fibers reimmersed in normal Ringer's solution.

Bone marrow derived cells in adult skeletal muscle tissue in humans [PDF]
BACKGROUND:During the past decade, several animal studies have demonstrated that in addition to local cells, cells from the bone marrow (BM) possess the ability to contribute to regeneration of injured skeletal muscle tissue.

Dystrophin glycoprotein complex dysfunction:a regulatory link between muscular dystrophy and cancer cachexia [PDF]
Cachexia contributes to nearly a third of all cancer deaths, yet the mechanisms underlying skeletal muscle wasting in this syndrome remain poorly defined.

The emerging role of exercise preconditioning in preventing skeletal muscle atrophy
Skeletal muscle atrophy, characterized by the loss of muscle mass and function, can result from disuse, aging, disease, drug. Exercise preconditioning—a form of exercise training performed before these harmful threats—induces notable remodeling and ...
