PEG Alternatives in Liposomal Nanocarriers: Physicochemical Characteristics and Sustainable Process Strategies

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The global trend toward sustainable and intensified bioprocesses is driving innovation in the design and scalable synthesis of liposomal nanocarriers, a cornerstone of modern drug delivery. For decades, these nanosystems have relied exclusively on polyethylene glycol (PEG) for their sustained circulation in vivo, but they are currently ...

Bioremediation of aflatoxin B1-contaminated maize by king oyster mushroom (Pleurotus eryngii).

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2017
Aflatoxin B1 (AFB1) is the most harmful mycotoxin that occurs as natural contaminant of agricultural commodities, particularly maize. Practical solutions for detoxification of contaminated staples and reduction of agricultural wastes are scarce.

Cholinergic Mushroom Poisoning With a Detection of Muscarine Toxin in Urine

open access: yesJournal of Medical Cases, 2023
We report an uncommon case of cholinergic poisoning following an ingestion of wild mushrooms. Two middle-aged patients presented to the emergency unit with acute gastrointestinal symptoms including epigastric pain, vomiting and diarrhea, followed by miosis, palpitations and diaphoresis which were compatible with a cholinergic toxidrome.

Protein hydrolysates in cell culture: Toward multi‐omics characterization

open access: yesBiotechnology Progress, EarlyView.
While protein hydrolysates are widely used in cell culture applications, they remain undefined and variable products. Multi‐omic characterization evaluating composition and function can transition hydrolysates toward semi‐defined media components.

Insights into Detoxification of Tolaasins, the Toxins Behind Mushroom Bacterial Blotch, by Microbacterium foliorum NBRC 103072T

open access: yesPhytoFrontiers, 2021
Tolaasins are lipodepsipeptides secreted by Pseudomonas tolaasii, the causal agent of brown blotch disease of mushroom, and are the toxins that cause the brown spots.

Ribosomal biosynthesis of the cyclic peptide toxins of Amanita mushrooms [PDF]

open access: yesPeptide Science, 2010
AbstractSome species of mushrooms in the genus Amanita are extremely poisonous and frequently fatal to mammals including humans and dogs. Their extreme toxicity is due to amatoxins such as α‐ and β‐amanitin. Amanita mushrooms also biosynthesize a chemically related group of toxins, the phallotoxins, such as phalloidin.

Synergies and Trade‐Offs in Circular Economy and Community Development Nexus: Pathways to Local Sustainability

open access: yesCorporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Recent scholarship shows growing interest in the circular economy (CE) approach, which promotes resource‐efficient, community‐friendly activities. However, scientific evidence is still needed on the synergies and trade‐offs between CE and community development (CD).

Molecular characterization and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometric multiple reaction monitoring-based detection in case of suspected phalloides syndrome poisoning

open access: yesJournal of Associated Medical Sciences, 2018
Backgrounds: The most common lethal mushrooms are invariably attributed to amanitas, which contain several types of lethal peptide toxins. During 2015 to 2018, the suspect in phalloides syndrome case reported to the Thai National Institute of Health ...
