The mutual information of a stochastic binary channel: validity of the Replica Symmetry Ansatz

open access: yes, 1998
We calculate the mutual information (MI) of a two-layered neural network with noiseless, continuous inputs and binary, stochastic outputs under several assumptions on the synaptic efficiencies.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

On Normalized Mutual Information: Measure Derivations and Properties

open access: yesEntropy, 2017
Starting with a new formulation for the mutual information (MI) between a pair of events, this paper derives alternative upper bounds and extends those to the case of two discrete random variables.

ennemi: Non-linear correlation detection with mutual information

open access: yesSoftwareX, 2021
We present ennemi, a Python package for correlation analysis based on mutual information (MI). MI is a measure of relationship between variables. Unlike Pearson correlation it is valid also for non-linear relationships, yet in the linear case the two are

Dual-Polarized Ricean MIMO Channels: Modeling and Performance Assessment

open access: yes, 2012
In wireless communication systems, dual-polarized (DP) instead of single-polarized (SP) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) transmission is used to improve the spectral efficiency under certain conditions on the channel and the signal-to-noise ratio ...

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

T-value and mutual information as measures of the association strength in Serbian language [PDF]

open access: yesPsihologija, 2006
Since the study of Meyer and Schvaneveldt (1971), a large number of researches have shown facilitation effect in cognitive processing of a given word when it is preceded by a semantically (i.e. associatively) related word.

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

LBF-MI: Limited Boolean Functions and Mutual Information to Infer a Gene Regulatory Network from Time-Series Gene Expression Data

open access: yesGenes
Background: In the realm of system biology, it is a challenging endeavor to infer a gene regulatory network from time-series gene expression data. Numerous Boolean network inference techniques have emerged for reconstructing a gene regulatory network from a time-series gene expression dataset. However, most of these techniques pose scalability concerns

Detection of Respiration Movement Asymmetry Between the Left and Right Lungs Using Mutual Information and Transfer Entropy

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2018
Using diagnostic imaging, asymmetry in the mechanic of the left and right lungs has been discovered in unilateral lung disease. Unilateral lung disease might affect information interaction between two lungs, which is often neglected in the study of lung ...
