Hypoxia in the Initiation and Progression of Neuroblastoma Tumours [PDF]
Neuroblastoma is the most frequent extracranial solid tumour in children, causing 10% of all paediatric oncology deaths. It arises in the embryonic neural crest due to an uncontrolled behaviour of sympathetic nervous system progenitors, giving rise to ...

Scaling for the intensity of radiation in spherical and aspherical planetary nebulae [PDF]
The image of planetary nebulae is made by three different physical processes. The first process is the expansion of the shell that can be modeled by the canonical laws of motion in the spherical case and by the momentum conservation when gradients of density are present in the interstellar medium.

MYCN mediates TFRC-dependent ferroptosis and reveals vulnerabilities in neuroblastoma
MYCN amplification is tightly associated with the poor prognosis of pediatric neuroblastoma (NB). The regulation of NB cell death by MYCN represents an important aspect, as it directly contributes to tumor progression and therapeutic resistance. However,

Action of HMGB1 on miR221/222 cluster in neuroblastoma cell lines [PDF]
microRNA (miR/miRNA) are small non-coding RNAs that control gene expression at the post-transcriptional level by targeting mRNAs. Aberrant expression of miRNAs is often observed in different types of cancer.

The Discovery of Infrared Rings in the Planetary Nebula NGC 1514 During the WISE All-Sky Survey [PDF]
We report the discovery of a pair of infrared, axisymmetric rings in the planetary nebula NGC 1514 during the course of the WISE all-sky mid-infrared survey. Similar structures are seen at visible wavelengths in objects such as the "Engraved Hourglass Nebula" (MyCn 18) and the "Southern Crab Nebula" (Hen 2-104).

To assess the utility of fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) for analysis of MYCN gene amplification in neuroblastoma, we compared this assay with Southern blot analysis using tumor specimens collected from 232 patients with presenting ...

Transcriptomic profiling of 39 commonly-used neuroblastoma cell lines [PDF]
Neuroblastoma cell lines are an important and cost-effective model used to study oncogenic drivers of the disease. While many of these cell lines have been previously characterized with SNP, methylation, and/or mRNA expression microarrays, there has not ...

Neuroblastoma is a childhood tumour that is responsible for approximately 15% of all childhood cancer deaths. Neuroblastoma tumours with amplification of the oncogene MYCN are aggressive, however, another aggressive subgroup without MYCN amplification ...

High resolution spectra of bright central stars of bipolar planetary nebulae, and the question of magnetic shaping [PDF]
We present ESO NTT high resolution echelle spectroscopy of the central stars (CSs) of eight southern bipolar planetary nebulae (PNe) selected for their asymmetry. Our aim was to determine or place limits on the magnetic fields of the CSs of these nebulae, and hence to explore the role played by magnetic fields in nebular morphology and PN shaping.

Enhancer invasion shapes MYCN-dependent transcriptional amplification in neuroblastoma [PDF]
Amplification of the locus encoding the oncogenic transcription factor MYCN is a defining feature of high-risk neuroblastoma. Here we present the first dynamic chromatin and transcriptional landscape of MYCN perturbation in neuroblastoma. At oncogenic levels, MYCN associates with E-box binding motifs in an affinity-dependent manner, binding to strong ...
