Mycobacterium marinum INFECTION IN BUFONIDAE [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Wildlife Diseases, 1981
Mycobacterium marinum was isolated from lesions of two Bufonidae. Microscopic examination of tissues collected at necropsy of six Bufonidae revealed lesions containing acid-fast bacteria in the liver, lung, kidney, intestine and skin. Acid-fast bacteria occurred in alveoli and airways of lung and in lumen of intestine.

Interaction vesicles as emerging mediators of host‐pathogen molecular crosstalk and their implications for infection dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interaction extracellular vesicles (iEVs) are hybrid vesicles formed through host‐pathogen communication. They facilitate immune evasion, transfer pathogens' molecules, increase host cell uptake, and enhance virulence. This Perspective article illustrates the multifunctional roles of iEVs and highlights their emerging relevance in infection dynamics ...

Nanocarrier‐Based Targeting of Pattern Recognition Receptors as an Innovative Strategy for Enhancing Sepsis Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent progress in nanocarriers targeting pattern recognition receptors (PRRs), including Toll‐like and NOD‐like receptors, for enhancing the treatment of bacterial sepsis and related complications. These nanomedicines deliver antibiotics and anti‐inflammatory agents while modulating immune responses.

Mycobacterium abscessus urinary tract infection in an immunocompetent host: A case report and literature review

open access: yesIDCases, 2022
Mycobacterium abscessus is one of the nontuberculous mycobacteria (NTM), which can cause many clinical spectra, predominantly pulmonary infections followed by skin and soft tissue infections.

Non-tuberculous mycobacterial soft tissue swelling in an immunocompetent patient

open access: yesMedical Journal of Dr. D.Y. Patil University, 2014
Non-tuberculosis mycobacteria (NTM) include those mycobacterium species that are not members of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex. They assumed significance with the growing pandemic of the acquired immune deficiency syndrome (AIDS) since the 1980s,

Loss of NR2F6 Protects from Salmonella Typhimurium Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Loss of nuclear receptor NR2F6 reduces tissue‐resident macrophage populations. Nr2f6‐deficient mice are protected from weight loss and bacterial load during infection with Salmonella Typhimurium. Pro‐inflammatory cytokines and iron levels are altered in infected Nr2f6‐deficient mice.

Treatment ofMycobacterium abscessusInfection [PDF]

open access: yesEmerging Infectious Diseases, 2016
Mycobacterium abscessus is often resistant to multiple antimicrobial drugs, and data supporting effective drugs or dosing regimens are limited. To better identify treatment approaches and associated toxicities, we collected a series of case reports from the Emerging Infections Network. Side effects were common and often led to changing or discontinuing

Mitochondrial Regulation of CD8⁺ T Cells: Mechanisms and Therapeutic Modulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This article comprehensively explores the pivotal role of mitochondrial function in CD8⁺ T cell immunotherapy. It highlights how mitochondrial dynamics regulate T cell activation, differentiation, and persistence, and how mitochondrial dysfunction leads to immune exhaustion and impaired antitumor/antiviral responses.

Tuberculosis pulmonar en un paciente con lepra lepromatosa. Presentación de un caso Pulmonary tuberculosis in a patient with lepromatous leprosy. Presentation of a case

Lady Windermere Syndrome: A Very Rare Entity In Indian Medical Scenario [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Clinical and Diagnostic Research, 2016
Bronchiectasis is a common respiratory disorder, which we come across in clinical practice. Patients with bronchiectasis are prone to infections, especially of Mycobacterium tuberculosis. However, non-tubercular Mycobacterial infections may also set in,
