Lipid emulsion modulates myogenic and collagen-related gene expression in skeletal muscle of preterm fetal sheep. [PDF]
Abstract Although intravenous lipid emulsions are routinely administered to preterm infants, their specific effects on skeletal muscle development remain unclear. In this study, a soybean oil‐based lipid emulsion (Intralipid 20®) was administered via intravenous infusion to fetal sheep (gestational day 88–90) at a dose rising from 1 g/kg/day (day 0) to

Disruption of the mouse MRF4 gene identifies multiple waves of myogenesis in the myotome [PDF]
MRF4 (herculin/Myf-6) is one of the four member MyoD family of transcription factors identified by their ability to enforce skeletal muscle differentiation upon a wide variety of nonmuscle cell types.

The long non-coding RNA Kcnq1ot1 controls maternal p57 expression in muscle cells by promoting H3K27me3 accumulation to an intragenic MyoD-binding region [PDF]
BACKGROUND: The cell-cycle inhibitor p57kip2 plays a critical role in mammalian development by coordinating cell proliferation and differentiation in many cell types.

Use of a conditional MyoD transcription factor in studies of MyoD trans-activation and muscle determination. [PDF]
DNA sequences encoding the hormone-binding domains of several steroid hormone receptors were fused in frame to the MyoD gene. When the gene for this chimeric protein was expressed in NIH 3T3 or 10T1/2 fibroblasts, these cells displayed hormone-dependent induction of myogenesis.

WP(Pip) is a mixture of whey protein and piperine‐loaded nanoemulsion stabilized by WP through microfluidic homogenization. Acting as a “smart key,” piperine opens epithelial tight junctions to enhance absorption of whey protein and, thereby increasing circulating amino acid availability, synergistically up‐regulates the mTOR signaling pathway in ...

Introduction. Functional unloading of muscles is accompanied by slow-to-fast transformation of muscle myosin phenotype, an increase in acid sphingomyelinase (ASM) activity, ceramide, reactive oxygen species (ROS), and advanced glycation end products (

The cover image shows that vascular endothelial cells play an important role in lung metastasis of TNBC. Endothelial Sohlh2 acts as a gatekeeper against TNBC lung metastasis by limiting endothelial activation and tumor cell passage. PRMT5 reduces Sohlh2 stability, weakening this protective barrier.

Coordinate actions of BMPs, Wnts, Shh and noggin mediate patterning of the dorsal somite [PDF]
Shortly after their formation, somites of vertebrate embryos differentiate along the dorsoventral axis into sclerotome, myotome and dermomyotome.
