Myxoma Virus: Propagation, Purification, Quantification, and Storage [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Protocols in Microbiology, 2010
AbstractMyxoma virus (MYXV) is a member of the Poxviridae family and prototype for the genus Leporipoxvirus. It is pathogenic only for European rabbits, in which it causes the lethal disease myxomatosis, and two North American species, in which it causes a less severe disease. MYXV replicates exclusively in the cytoplasm of the host cell.

Properties of Myxoma Virus Transforming Agent

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1958
SummaryThe transforming agent prepared from myxoma virus (TAM) is resistant to heat, to ether extraction, and to mild enzymatic digestion but is inactivated by the photodynamic action of toluidine blue. TAM particles can be sedimented by ultracentrifugation (Spinco).

76. Cardiac myxoma, surgical experience and results of 35 cases

open access: yesJournal of the Saudi Heart Association, 2015
Cardiac myxoma, the most common primary heart tumor, is located mainly in the left atrium. Approximately 80% of primary heart tumors are benign, and 50% of these are myxomas.

Outbreaks of myxomatosis in Egyptian domestic rabbit farms

open access: yesWorld Rabbit Science, 2019
Myxomatosis is an endemic infectious, severe and often fatal disease of rabbit caused by myxoma virus. In the present study, myxomatosis outbreaks were reported in 7 domestic rabbit farms in Egypt.

Host-specificity of myxoma virus: Pathogenesis of South American and North American strains of myxoma virus in two North American lagomorph species

open access: yes, 2016
The pathogenesis of South American and North American myxoma viruses was examined in two species of North American lagomorphs, Sylvilagus nuttallii (mountain cottontail) and Sylvilagus audubonii (desert cottontail) both of which have been shown to have ...

Modificação da virulência do virus do mixoma provocada pelos raios X Changes in virulence of the mixoma virus produced by X-Rays

open access: yesMemorias do Instituto Oswaldo Cruz, 1952

Molecular species identification, host preference and detection of myxoma virus in the Anopheles maculipennis complex (Diptera: Culicidae) in southern England, UK

open access: yesParasites & Vectors, 2015
Background Determining the host feeding patterns of mosquitoes by identifying the origin of their blood-meals is an important part of understanding the role of vector species in current and future disease transmission cycles.

Characterisation of a non-pathogenic and non-protective infectious rabbit lagovirus related to RHDV [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The existence of non-pathogenic RHDV strains was established when a non-lethal virus named rabbit calicivirus (RCV) was characterised in 1996 in Italy.

Oncolytic Virus-Mediated RAS Targeting in Rhabdomyosarcoma

open access: yesMolecular Therapy: Oncolytics, 2018
Aberrant activation of the receptor tyrosine kinase-mediated RAS signaling cascade is the primary driver of embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma (ERMS), a pediatric cancer characterized by a block in myogenic differentiation.
