Changes in the virulence of myxoma virus strains in Britain [PDF]
SUMMARYNational surveys of the virulence of field strains of myxoma virus were carried out in 1975 (128 virus strains) and in 1981 (123 strains), using the virulence testing method employed in a similar survey in 1962. Results showed that the virulence of field strains had increased between 1962 and 1975, and again between 1975 and 1981.

Capripoxviruses, leporipoxviruses, and orthopoxviruses: Occurrences of recombination
Poxviruses are double-stranded DNA viruses with several members displaying restricted host ranges. They are genetically stable with low nucleotide mutation rates compared to other viruses, due to the poxviral high-fidelity DNA polymerase. Despite the low

No association between herpes simplex virus 1 and cardiac myxoma
PRINCIPLES: Cardiac myxoma is the most commonly diagnosed cardiac tumour. Infection of herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV1) has been postulated to be a factor for this pathologic entity.

ABSTRACT The disease course of severe enterovirus (EV) infection with hepatic necrosis is usually fulminant and fatal. Coxsackievirus (CVB3) is the emerging and important serotype of newborn EV inducing hepatic necrosis. Calcium (Ca2+) regulates host immunity, type I interferon (IFN‐I), and viral infections.

Relation of Myxoma Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA) to Fibroma-Myxoma Virus Transformation
Summary(1) TAM (Transforming Agent Myxoma) became susceptible to destructive action of DNase when treated with urea. (2) DNase used under same conditions had no effect on TAM prepared by heat alone. (3) RNase did not destroy UREA-TAM. (4) Potency of UREA-TAM was comparable to that of heated TAM from which it was prepared.

Protection against myxomatosis and rabbit viral hemorrhagic disease with recombinant myxoma viruses expressing rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus capsid protein [PDF]
Two myxoma virus-rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) recombinant viruses were constructed with the SG33 strain of myxoma virus to protect rabbits against myxomatosis and rabbit viral hemorrhagic disease.

Release of virulent myxoma virus has been a key component of rabbit-control operations in Queensland, Australia, since the 1960s but its use rests on anecdotal reports.

Outbreaks of myxomatosis in Iberian hares (Lepus granatensis) were detected for the first time in Spain in 2018. The disease spread to a significant proportion of the species range, negatively affecting the hare populations.

Integumentary fibrosarcoma in a free‐living swan (Cygnus olor): Medical and welfare considerations
Abstract A 10‐kg adult male mute swan (Cygnus olor) of unknown age was admitted for investigations of two large ventral masses overlying the keel bone, which were discharging purulent material. The masses measured 8.9 × 2.1 cm and 4.2 × 3.2 cm. Empirical treatment with non‐steroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs and antimicrobials was instigated.

Serp2, an inhibitor of the interleukin-1beta-converting enzyme, is critical in the pathobiology of myxoma virus [PDF]
Recently, myxoma virus was shown to encode an additional member of the serpin superfamily. The viral gene, called serp2, was cloned, and the Serp2 protein was shown to specifically bind to interleukin-1beta (IL-1beta)-converting enzyme (ICE), thus ...
