CYP2E1 RsaI and 96-bp insertion genetic polymorphisms associated with risk for colorectal cancer [PDF]
We investigated a possible association between alcoholism, cigarette smoking, obesity and CYP2E1 RsaI and 96-bp insertion genetic polymorphisms with risk for colorectal cancer (CRC). Patients with CRC (70 women and 61 men) were matched for gender and age

Microbiome‐urothelium crosstalk in bladder cancer: From dysbiosis to clinical translation
This review elucidates the critical crosstalk between the urobiome and bladder cancer (BCa), mapping the landscape from ecological dysbiosis to clinical translation. We synthesize emerging evidence on microbial signatures that distinguish BCa patients, exploring key carcinogenic mechanisms including chronic inflammation, genotoxicity, and the gut ...

Cytochrome P450 2E1 variable number tandem repeat polymorphisms and health risks: A genotype-phenotype study in cancers associated with drinking and/or smoking [PDF]
Cytochrome P450 2E1 (CYP2E1) is one of the main enzymes involved in the oxidation of ethanol and in the transformation of a number of potentially dangerous compounds. It has various polymorphic sites, one of which is a variable number tandem repeat (VNTR)

Comparative analysis between cigarette smokers and HnB users revealed similar inflammatory lung function parameters and immunophenotypic patterns. Cigarette smoke and HnB aerosol had an impact on ECM through divergent downstream pathways. Exposed to Cigarette smoke and HnB aerosol caused comparative TJ weakening in the epithelial barrier.
