Identification and Functional Analysis of the NADK Gene Family in Wheat
NAD(H) kinase (NADK) is a key enzyme for maintaining the cellular NAD(H)/NADP(H) balance and for NADP(H)-based metabolic pathways. We identified four NADK homologs, NADK1–4, from three major cereal crops, wheat, rice and maize, based on their phylogenetic relationships and gene structures.

Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD(+)) has a crucial role in many cellular processes, both as a coenzyme for redox reactions and as a substrate to donate ADP-ribose units. Thus, enzymes involved in NAD(+) metabolism are attractive targets for drug discovery against a variety of human diseases.

Abstract Acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most common pediatric cancer with a cumulative risk of ~1 in 2,000 children by the age of 15 years and an increasing incidence over the last 30 years.Whilst advances in the use of combination chemotherapy have significantly improved outcomes, current treatments remain toxic and can have ...

Cytosolic NADK is conditionally essential for folate-dependent nucleotide synthesis
Nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide kinase (NADK) catalyses the phosphorylation of NAD+ to produce NAD phosphate, the oxidized form of NADPH, a cofactor that serves a critical role in driving reductive metabolism. Cancer cells co-express two distinct NAD kinases that differ by localization (NADK, cytosol; NADK2, mitochondria).

NADK-mediated proline synthesis enhances high-salinity tolerance in the razor clam
Euryhaline organisms can accumulate organic osmolytes to maintain osmotic balance between their internal and external environments. Proline is a pivotal organic small molecule and plays an important role in osmoregulation that enables marine shellfish to tolerate high-salinity conditions. During high-salinity challenge, NAD kinase (NADK) is involved in

Abstract The genes that are required for the growth of mammalian cells can depend on an interplay of cell-intrinsic factors and environmental context. However, there is often little investigation into how nutrient availability impacts gene essentiality. Moreover, efforts such as DepMap have catalogued genes that contribute to cancer cell

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder with limited treatments. Schisandra total lignans (STL), the primary active component of Schisandra chinensis, shows potential in alleviating AD-related symptoms, though the mechanisms remain unclear.Considering the promoting effect of neuronal ferroptosis on AD and the ...
