‘When joy comes your way, you have to grab it!’ Troubling how queer joy features in the lives of LGBT+ school‐attending youth in South Africa

open access: yesBritish Educational Research Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Recently, the concept ‘queer joy’ has gained interest in LGBT+ scholarship in the West. I use this scholarship as an entry point to explore how school‐attending LGBT+ youth express joy and how joy serves as a form of resistance against gender and sexuality norms in educational settings.

Beyond Nash Equilibrium: Solution Concepts for the 21st Century [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Behavioral and Quantitative Game Theory: Conference on Future Directions, 2008
Nash equilibrium is the most commonly-used notion of equilibrium in game theory. However, it suffers from numerous problems. Some are well known in the game theory community; for example, the Nash equilibrium of repeated prisoner's dilemma is neither normatively nor descriptively reasonable. However, new problems arise when considering Nash equilibrium

The Rights-Egalitarian Solution for NTU Sharing Problems [PDF]

open access: yes
The purpose of this paper is to extend the Rights Egalitarian solution (Herrero, Maschler & Villar, 1999) to the context of non-transferable utility sharing problems. Such an extension is not unique.

Engineering Murine Cross‐Reactivity Into an Affibody to Human Death Receptor 5

open access: yesBiotechnology and Bioengineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Interspecies cross‐reactive protein therapeutics that target conserved epitopes across species are critical for translational research. The present study showcases the engineering of an affibody molecule, originally discovered for binding to human death receptor 5 (hDR5) with 94 nM affinity, to simultaneously acquire cross‐reactivity to murine

Optimizing Underwater Game Strategy Based on Cooperative Confrontation

open access: yesXibei Gongye Daxue Xuebao, 2019
Based on the multi-round confrontation of multiple Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVS), the concept of Nash equilibrium is used to solve the problem of underwater dynamic cooperative confrontation of multiple AUVs. From the perspective of confrontation

When Do Robots Go Green? Unveiling Mechanisms, Thresholds, and Spillovers of Industrial Robotics on Global Ecological Capacity

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This paper examines the relationship between industrial robotics adoption and ecological capacity, measured by biocapacity, using panel data from 50 countries over the period 2000–2024. We investigate the transmission mechanisms, non‐linearities, spatial spillovers, and heterogeneity characterizing this relationship.

Farnesoid X Receptor Agonism, Acetyl‐Coenzyme A Carboxylase Inhibition, and Back Translation of Clinically Observed Endpoints of De Novo Lipogenesis in a Murine NASH Model

open access: yesHepatology Communications, 2020
A promising approach for the treatment of nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is the inhibition of enhanced hepatic de novo lipogenesis (DNL), which is the synthesis of fatty acids from nonlipid sources.

A Fictitious-Play Model of Bargaining To Implement the Nash Solution [PDF]

open access: yes
We present a fictitious-play model of bargaining, where two bargainers play the Nash demand game repeatedly. The bargainers make a deliberate decision on their demands in the initial period and then follow a fictitious play process subsequently.

GLP‐1 Receptor Agonists in Metabolic Dysfunction‐Associated Steatotic Liver Disease: Bridging Hepatic and Cardiovascular Outcomes

open access: yesChronic Diseases and Translational Medicine, EarlyView.
Endogenous GLP‐1 and exogenous GLP‐1 RAs activate GLP‐1R‐expressing vagal afferents in the portal vein, projecting to the nucleus tractus solitarius (NTS). This input engages brainstem–hypothalamic circuits that regulate metabolic homeostasis. Hypothalamic efferent vagal output to the liver suppresses lipogenesis, enhances triglyceride export, and ...

Inner Core, Asymmetric Nash Bargaining Solutions and Competitive Payoffs [PDF]

open access: yes
We investigate the relationship between the inner core and asymmetric Nash bargaining solutions for n-person bargaining games with complete information. We show that the set of asymmetric Nash bargaining solutions for different strictly positive vectors ...
