Radiomics in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma [PDF]
Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is one of the most common head and neck malignancies, and the primary treatment methods are radiotherapy and chemotherapy. Radiotherapy alone, concurrent chemoradiotherapy, and induction chemotherapy combined with concurrent chemoradiotherapy can be used according to different grades. Treatment options and prognoses vary

Imaging plays an important role in the staging of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. Accurate staging is necessary, as the treatment is directly dependent on stage. Clinical examination provides information on mucosal involvement but is unable to determine the deep extension or the presence of skull base invasion or intracranial spread.

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is uncommon in the United States, with only 0.2 to 0.5 cases per 100,00 people; this is in contrast to southern China and Hong Kong, where the incidence is 25 to 50 per 100,000 people. There is a potential link between Epstein-Barr virus and the development of nasopharyngeal carcinoma.

Nasopharyngeal carcinoma [PDF]
Nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) is a tumor arising from the epithelial cells that cover the surface and line the nasopharynx. The annual incidence of NPC in the UK is 0.3 per million at age 0-14 years, and 1 to 2 per million at age 15-19 years. Incidence is higher in the Chinese and Tunisian populations.

Induction chemotherapy in the treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma: Clinical outcomes and patterns of care [PDF]
The role of induction chemotherapy in nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) remains controversial. The primary aim of this study was to use the National Cancer Database to evaluate the patterns of care of induction chemotherapy in NPC and its impact on overall ...
