Condition‐specific competition allows coexistence of competitively superior exotic oysters with native oysters [PDF]
1. Trade-offs between competitive ability and tolerance of abiotic stress are widespread in the literature. Thus, condition-specific competition may explain spatial variability in the success of some biological invaders and why, in environments where there is small-scale environmental variability, competitively inferior and superior species can coexist.

Growth Performance of the Mangrove Oyster Cultivated on the Amazon Coast
In the last decades the oyster faming stands out as the main mitigating measure to the decline of the fishery, as it presents socio-economic and environmental viability.

The world is their oyster: Differences in epibiota on sympatric populations of native Ostrea edulis and non-native Crassostrea gigas (Magallana gigas) oysters [PDF]
Abstract In this study we aimed to assess the relative effects of native Ostrea edulis and non-native Crassostrea gigas and their associated epibiotic biodiversity. We recorded epibiont location on the shell as well as the upper or lower valve. Epibiont species richness was significantly lower on C. gigas.

Reefs formed by Ostrea edulis, the European native oyster, are among many biogenic habitats that have declined globally. European oyster habitats are now rare, and undisturbed examples have not been described.

Environmental stress mediates trophic cascade strength and resistance to invasion
Although much attention has focused on the drivers of trophic cascade strength among systems (e.g., habitat type, body size, predator, and prey thermy) comparatively little is known of how trophic cascades change within systems, especially with respect ...

Adaptability of the alien Pacific oyster to the coastal marine environment of the Bulgarian Black Sea and potential implications for ecosystem conservation [PDF]
Feral individuals of Pacific oysters (Magallana gigas Thunberg, 1793) in natural habitats are increasingly being reported from the Bulgarian coast.
