Antioxidant research in Asia in the period from 2000-2008. [PDF]
Problem statement: Plant antioxidants are natural plant products that inhibit the adverse effects of the Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS) produced in plants. Thus, antioxidants enable plants to survive.

High‐temperature interactions between low‐sulfur Al‐killed Mn–B steel and MgO–C refractories (0 and 50 wt% recyclates) are studied via finger immersion tests (1600 °C). Surface‐active elements influence infiltration. MgO/CaS layer forms, along with spinel and calcium silicate.

Advances in Natural Antioxidants for Food Improvement
In the food industry, antioxidants are natural and synthetic compounds added to neutralize free radicals that deteriorate fats, proteins and cellular DNA, causing rancidity of fats and accelerating the ageing process, which lead to undesirable smells and

Andrographolide, A Natural Antioxidant: An Update [PDF]
Traditionally, Andrographis paniculata has been used as an herbal remedy for lung infection treatments. Its leaves contain a diterpenoid labdane called andrographolide responsible for a wide range of biological activities such as antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer properties.

Application of Raman and Photoluminescence Spectroscopy to MgO‐C Refractories
Visible to near infrared luminescence of MgO is studied on MgO‐C bricks and nominally pure MgO powder, with focus on two similar sharp high‐intensity signals, at 699 and 871 nm, each surrounded by symmetrical sidebands. The nature of these sidebands is investigated by temperature‐dependent spectroscopic measurements, confirming phonon involvement by ...

Antioxidant and antimicrobial potential of artichoke (Cynara scolymus L.) extract in beef patties [PDF]
The antioxidant and antimicrobial potential of artichoke extract (AE) in raw beef patties (RBPs) was evaluated during the storage. The RBPs were prepared with the addition of 500 and 1000 ppm AE.

The presented study focuses on the fracture behaviour of carbon‐bonded magnesia MgO–C refractories, where environmentally friendly fructose, collagen and lignin serve as temporary binding agents. The partial substitution of the source material with recycled MgO–C reduces the fracture resistance, which can be counteracted by the additional introduction ...

Natural antioxidants in Alzheimer's disease
Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder characterised by severe cognitive impairment that ultimately leads to death. Current drugs used in AD are acetylcholinesterase inhibitors and antagonists to the NMDA receptors. These drugs may only slightly improve cognitive functions but have only very limited impact on the clinical ...
