Lone-pair effect on carrier capture in Cu$_2$ZnSnS$_4$ solar cells [PDF]
The performance of kesterite thin-film solar cells is limited by a low open-circuit voltage due to defect-mediated electron-hole recombination. We calculate the non-radiative carrier-capture cross sections and Shockley-Read-Hall recombination coefficients of deep-level point defects in Cu$_2$ZnSnS$_4$ (CZTS) from first-principles.

Uterine natural killer cell heterogeneity: Lessons from mouse models [PDF]
Natural killer (NK) cells are the most abundant lymphocytes at the maternal-fetal interface. Epidemiological data implicate NK cells in human pregnancy outcomes.

Natural killer cells in placentation and cancer: Implications for hypertension during pregnancy [PDF]
Hypertension during pregnancy is the most common medical condition encountered during gestation. Despite this, knowledge of the mechanisms that underlie the disease and the development of new therapies are limited.

Turning on Natural Killer Cells [PDF]
NK cells preferentially recognize and kill cells that lack expression of MHC class I ([1][1]). While inhibitory receptors expressing immunoreceptor tyrosine-based inhibition motifs prevent NK cells from harming tissues expressing normal levels of classical or nonclassical MHC class I (for a review,

Background NKG2D is an activating receptor expressed by natural killer and T cells, which have crucial functions in tumor and microbial immunosurveillance. Several cytokines have been identified as modulators of NKG2D receptor expression. However, little

The Regulation of Trace Metal Elements in Cancer Ferroptosis
The induction of ferroptosis inhibits tumor growth, enhances anticancer efficacy, and overcomes drug resistance. Recent evidence shows nonferrous metal elements play a role in ferroptosis. This review focuses on how trace metals regulate ferroptosis processes like iron accumulation, lipid peroxidation, and antioxidant defense.

Cytokine-induced killer cells are type II natural killer T cells
Background: Until now, cytokine-induced killer (CIK) cells were assumed to be part of the type I natural killer T (NKT) cell population, but it was not yet investigated if this is correct.
