Non-coding RNAs in Natural Killer/T-Cell Lymphoma

open access: yesFrontiers in Oncology, 2019
Natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (NKTCL) is a rare and aggressive subtype of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma that is associated with a poor outcome. Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs), which account for 98% of human RNAs, lack the function of encoding proteins but instead ...

Clinical and immunological characteristics for BK polyomavirus‐associated nephropathy after kidney transplantation

open access: yesImmunity, Inflammation and Disease, 2023
Introduction BK polyomavirus (BKPyV)‐associated nephropathy (BKPyVAN) can cause a significant risk of allograft impairment after kidney transplantation (KT). Intact BKPyV‐specific immunity is associated with viral containment.

Atypical natural killer T-cell receptor recognition of CD1d–lipid antigens

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
Crucial to Natural Killer T (NKT) cell function is the interaction between their T-cell receptor (TCR) and CD1d-antigen complex. However, the diversity of the NKT cell repertoire and the ensuing interactions with CD1d-antigen remain unclear.

Engineering tandem VHHs to target different epitopes to enhance antibody‐dependent cell‐mediated cytotoxicity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Tandem VHH targeting distinct EGFR epitopes were engineered into a monovalent bispecific antibody (7D12‐EGA1‐Fc) with more potent ADCC without increasing affinity to EGFR. Structural modeling of 7D12‐EGA1‐Fc showed cross‐linking of separate EGFR domains to enhance CD16a engagement on NK cells.

Nasal-Type Natural Killer/T-Cell Extranodal Lymphoma

open access: yesSinusitis
Nasal-type extranodal natural killer/T-cell lymphoma (ENKTL) is a rare, aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphoma associated with the Epstein–Barr virus (EBV). It predominantly affects middle-aged men and is most common in East Asia and Latin America.

Mycobacterial cell division arrest and smooth‐to‐rough envelope transition using CRISPRi‐mediated genetic repression systems

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing and phenotypic exploration in nontuberculous mycobacteria. In this Research Protocol, we describe approaches to control, monitor, and quantitatively assess CRISPRI‐mediated gene silencing in M. smegmatis and M. abscessus model organisms.

Alcohol‐induced altered glycans in human tracheal epithelial cells promote bacterial adhesion

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Alcohol induces altered glycans to promote bacteria adhesion. Heavy alcohol drinking is known to increase the risk of bacterial pneumonia. However, the link between alcohol levels and risk of infection remains underexplored. Recently, we found that alcohol induced α2‐6sialo mucin O‐glycans in human tracheobronchial epithelial cells, which mediated the ...
