Languages of general interval exchange transformations [PDF]
The languages generated by interval exchange transformations have been characterized by Ferenczi-Zamboni (2008) and Belov-Cernyatev (2010) under some extra conditions on the system. Lifting these conditions leads us to consider successively natural codings of standard interval exchange transformations, natural codings of affine interval exchange ...

The concept of generalized3 sequential machines in arbitrary categories is developed in the paper. The change in viewpoint from the previous studies comes from the appropriate choice of a monoidal category. Thus a monad, rather than a monoid in the category of sets, becomes the crucial notion of this development.

Grothendieck groups and a categorification of additive invariants
A topologically-invariant and additive homology class is mostly not a natural transformation as it is. In this paper we discuss turning such a homology class into a natural transformation; i.e., a "categorification" of it. In a general categorical set-up

Ginsparg-Wilson Fermions in Odd Dimensions [PDF]
The Ginsparg-Wilson relation, if written in a suitable form, can be used as a condition for lattice Dirac operators of massless fermions also in odd dimensions.

In enriched category theory, the notion of extranatural transformations is more fundamental than that of ordinary natural transformations, and the ends, the universal extranatural transformations, play a critical role. On the other hand, 2-category theory makes use of several other natural transformations, such as lax and pseudo transformations.

Prophage-Dependent Neighbor Predation Fosters Horizontal Gene Transfer by Natural Transformation
Natural transformation is a broadly conserved mechanism of horizontal gene transfer (HGT) in bacteria that can shape their evolution through the acquisition of genes that promote virulence, antibiotic resistance, and other traits.

Pseudoduality in Sigma Models [PDF]
We revisit classical "on shell" duality, i.e., pseudoduality, in two dimensional conformally invariant classical sigma models and find some new interesting results.

In vivo IL‐10 produced by tissue‐resident tolDC is involved in maintaining/inducing tolerance. Depending on the agent used for ex vivo tolDC generation, cells acquire common features but prime T cells towards anergy, FOXP3+ Tregs, or Tr1 cells according to the levels of IL‐10 produced. Ex vivo‐induced tolDC were administered to patients to re‐establish/

Natural Agrobacterium Transformants: Recent Results and Some Theoretical Considerations
Agrobacterium rhizogenes causes hairy root growth on a large number of plant species. It does so by transferring specific DNA fragments (T-DNA) from its root-inducing plasmid (pRi) into plant cells. Expression of T-DNA genes leads to abnormal root growth
