Rheumatoid Arthritis Associated With Anti-Signal Recognition Particle Immune-Mediated Necrotizing Myopathy: A Case Report

open access: yesJournal of Investigative Medicine High Impact Case Reports
Immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy (IMNM) is a rare subtype of idiopathic inflammatory myopathy that is characterized by severe subacute proximal weakness, myofiber necrosis, and significantly elevated serum creatine kinase.

Screening of autoantibodies associated with necrotizing myopathy among undiagnosed chronic myopathy

open access: yesRinsho Shinkeigaku, 2017
We screened anti-signal recognition particle (SRP) and anti-3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase (HMGCR) antibodies among 42 patients who had undiagnosed chronic myopathy from six national hospitals. Anti-SRP and anti-HMGCR antibodies were determined by RNA immuneprecipitation and enzyme-linked immune-sorbent assay (ELISA), respectively.

Are autoantibodies pathogenic in necrotizing myopathy?

open access: yesNature Reviews Rheumatology, 2018
What causes muscle fibre necrosis in necrotizing myopathy? The authors of a new study propose that specific autoantibodies contribute to disease via immune-mediated processes; but given that these processes also occur in muscular dystrophies, how likely is that these antibodies trigger muscle fibre necrosis?

Pembrolizumab-induced necrotizing diaphragmatic myositis

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Ventilation
Pembrolizumab, an anti-PD1 antibody, is increasingly used for the treatment of non-small cell lung cancer. We report a severe and poorly described adverse effect of this therapy: necrotizing myopathy with diaphragmatic and myocardial involvement.

Two Cases of Statin-Induced Immune-Mediated Necrotizing Myopathy: A Rare Side Effect of Statins

open access: yesRheumato
Statins are effective drugs for lowering cholesterol and reducing cardiovascular risk. Rarely, they can trigger autoimmune myopathies like immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy (IMNM), associated with anti-HMGCR antibodies.

History of diagnosis on idiopathic inflammatory myopathy

open access: yesChinese Journal of Contemporary Neurology and Neurosurgery, 2016
The idiopathic inflammatory myopathy (IIM) is a group of clinically heterogeneous, autoimmune-mediated disorders characterized by inflammation of muscle, elevated creatine kinase (CK), interstitial lung disease and other organ systems involvement ...
