Effect of Insulin on Rate of Hepatic Uptake of NEFA.
SummaryConcentrations of NEFA in plasma of blood obtained from splenic artery, portal and hepatic veins were measured in un-anesthetized dogs together with hepatic plasma flow. Rates of hepatic and non-hepatic splanchnic uptake or output of NEFA were calculated before and after insulin administration. A marked increase in rate of hepatic uptake of NEFA

Model-Based Quantification of the Systemic Interplay between Glucose and Fatty Acids in the Postprandial State. [PDF]
In metabolic diseases such as Type 2 Diabetes and Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease, the systemic regulation of postprandial metabolite concentrations is disturbed.

ABSTRACT Accumulating evidence suggests that the intestinal microbiota participates in the progression of metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) through microbiota‐host interaction. However, the beneficial role of commensal mycobiota in MASLD progression remains poorly understood.

Adipocyte Myoglobin Is a Determinant of Energy Expenditure and a Potential Target to Limit Obesity
Myoglobin, known as a muscle oxygen‐carrying protein, is shown to play a key role in fat cells that burn energy. Loss of myoglobin reduces the body's ability to generate heat and increases obesity risk, while restoring it improves metabolism. The study identifies myoglobin as a regulator of fat burning and a potential target to enhance energy ...

Gut microbiota from patients with type 2 diabetes induced early diabetes‐like phenotypes in germ‐free mice, including progressive glucose intolerance and mild renal injury. Longitudinal profiling revealed persistent dysbiosis preceding stable metabolic dysfunction, with coordinated fecal and plasma metabolite alterations and a prominent L‐Dopa ...

Cows with ketosis during the perinatal period often experience damage to the liver, a core metabolic organ, thereby exacerbating the disease's inherent vicious cycle. This study indicates that serum 3‐IAA concentrations were reduced in ketotic cows and show a significant negative correlation with hepatic TG content.

Acute effects of elevated NEFA on vascular function: a comparison of SFA and MUFA
There is emerging evidence to show that high levels of NEFA contribute to endothelial dysfunction and impaired insulin sensitivity. However, the impact of NEFA composition remains unclear.

Lipolysis and ketogenesis in cows in early lactation (review) [PDF]
Peripartal metabolic stress is characterized by increased lipid mobilization, when non-esterified fatty acids (NEFA) are increased, as well as by increased ketogenesis, when the concentration of beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHB) is increased.
