Negative indirect reciprocity : theory and evidence

open access: yes, 2013
Explanations of humans' evolutionary origins that invoke the ratchet of cumulative cultural learning must confront the `cooperative dilemma of culture'. Adaptive cultural knowledge is a widely shared but easily degraded public goodle knowledge and to deceive and manipulate each other.

Exploring an Alternative to mRNA Vaccine Cold Chain Storage: MRNA‐Lipid Nanoparticle Stability When Dried in a Polymer Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The nanostructure, size, and function of mRNA‐loaded lipid nanoparticles are evaluated before drying, within polymer microneedles, and after rehydration. The results reveal the polymer and LNP loadings required to recover nanostructure and preserve the delivery performance in dry‐state formulations.

Implications of Trust, Fear, and Reciprocity for Modeling Economic Behavior [PDF]

open access: yes
This paper reports three experiments with triadic or dyadic designs. The experiments include the moonlighting game in which first-mover actions can elicit positively or negatively reciprocal reactions from second movers.

Workers or Investors? Investigating the Reciprocity Aspects among Greek Social Enterprises Members

open access: yesRevista de Estudios Cooperativos, 2019
In Europe 160 million people are members of social economy enterprises and mutual societies. Members that work at social enterprises usually are bound with an employee relationship with their organization; on the other hand participating in a social ...

Quantifying Subsurface Weak in‐Plane Magnetization of Mixed Phase BiFeO3 by Scanning Nitrogen Vacancy Magnetometry

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We use scanning nitrogen vacancy magnetometry to directly image the weak in‐plane magnetic moments in mixed phase BiFeO3 at the nanoscale and quantify the local magnetic moments to be 18.8±2.0 μB/nm2 in the rhombohedral‐like phase and 1.5±0.6 μB/nm2 in the well‐known non‐magnetic tetragonal‐like phase.

Reciprocity as a Key Concept for Social Media and Society

open access: yesSocial Media + Society, 2015
The concept of reciprocity, particularly in the pro-social sense of mutually beneficial exchange, presents an opportunity befitting the start of a new journal on social media. Namely, how might a concept of social exchange help us understand a mediascape

Giant Magnetic Coercivity Driven by Spin‐Bag Ferromagnetism in Epitaxial Sr3YCo4O10+δ Films with Engineered 2D Oxygen Vacancy Ordering

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A giant magnetic coercivity and a vertical shift of hysteresis loops are demonstrated in Sr3YCo4O10+δ epitaxial films. The hard magnetic behavior originates from ferromagnetic spin bags stabilized within a long‐range ordered oxygen‐vacancy structure.

Emotions Enforce Fairness Norms (a Simple Model of Strong Reciprocity) [PDF]

open access: yes
In experimental games, many subjects cooperate contrary to their material interest and they do that in a reciprocal manner. In addition, many subjects punish those others who behave unkindly, and previous history usually influences subjects’ choices.

Toward Enhanced Inertial Sensing via Dynamically Soft Topological States in Piezoelectric Microacoustic Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A piezoelectric microacoustic wave device exploiting topologically protected interface states with significantly higher dynamic compliance than Lamb or Rayleigh modes achieves record‐high out‐of‐plane particle velocities exceeding 51 m/s. These findings indicate that leveraging topological interface states can overcome key limitations of piezoelectric ...

From Photoalignment to Structured Light: Liquid Crystal Platforms for Beam Shaping and Complex Wavefronts

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Photoaligned and photopatterned liquid crystal platforms provide programmable control of optical phase, polarization, and spin‐orbit interactions, enabling compact generation of structured light and complex wavefronts. This review highlights how tailored molecular orientations transform simple beams into designed optical fields, opening versatile ...
