PARTHENOGENESIS IN CARCINONEMERTES SPP. (NEMERTEA: HOPLONEMERTEA)

open access: yesThe Biological Bulletin, 1986
When juveniles of Carcinonemertes spp. are removed from male crabs and raised in the laboratory, a 50:50 sex ratio is obtained. Isolated females produce egg strings typical of Carcinonemertes, except that the embryos are haploid, with about 13 chromosomes per cell. Larvae develop at least to hatching, and some do hatch. Nearly all of the 146 females so

Ribbon worms (phylum Nemertea) from Bodega Bay, California: A largely undescribed diversity [PDF]

open access: yesZooKeys
The diversity of nemerteans along the Pacific coast of the United States is regarded as well characterized, but there remain many cryptic, undescribed, and “orphan” species (those known only in their larval form).

Complete mitochondrial genome sequences of two parasitic/commensal nemerteans, Gononemertes parasita and Nemertopsis tetraclitophila (Nemertea: Hoplonemertea)

open access: yesParasites & Vectors, 2014
Background Most nemerteans (phylum Nemertea) are free-living, but about 50 species are known to be firmly associated with other marine invertebrates. For example, Gononemertes parasita is associated with ascidians, and Nemertopsis tetraclitophila with ...
