The optical absorption spectrum of stoichiometric neodymium nitrate hexahydrate

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1977
The optical absorption spectrum of single crystals of neodymium nitrate hexahydrated with the stoichiometric composition (that is, without analytical excess of nitrogen) was recorded at 4.2 K between 10 000 and 33 000 cm−1. The theoretical analysis was undertaken through a computer program which takes into account free-atom classical operators ...

Praseodymium nitrate and neodymium nitrate complexation with organophosphorus reagents in supercritical carbon dioxide solvent

The Journal of Supercritical Fluids, 2004
Abstract Complex formation reactions of praseodymium nitrate hexahydrate, and neodymium nitrate hexahydrate salts with tri-n-butyl phosphate (TBP) and several other neutral organophosphorus reagents were investigated in supercritical carbon dioxide. The concentration of the metal complexes in the supercritical fluid (SCF) phase was determined using ...

Glycine–nitrate combustion engineering of neodymium cobaltite nanocrystals

Rare Metals, 2020
Abstract NdCoO 3 nanocrystals formed via glycine–nitrate combustion method followed by heat treatment has been systematically studied. Formation of NdCoO 3 nanocrystals with minimal size of 7–10 nm from X‐ray amorphous combustion ...

Recovery of neodymium and praseodymium from nitrate-based leachate of permanent magnet by solvent extraction with trioctylphosphine oxide

Separation and Purification Technology, 2020
For recovery of the rare earth elements neodymium and praseodymium from end-life permanent magnets, solvent extraction experiments were carried out on the nitrate-based leachate with trioctylphosphine oxide (TOPO) as an extractant.

Thermoanalytical behavior of neodymium nitrate hexahydrate Nd(NO3)3·6H2O

Journal of Thermal Analysis and Calorimetry, 2019
The hexahydrate Nd(NO3)3·6H2O melts in its water of crystallization at 328 K. There are no phase transitions at least above 233 K. Similar to other nitrates in the lanthanide series, its thermal decomposition is a gradual process, which entails the formation of a cluster 6[Nd(NO3)3·6H2O] after the condensation of 6 mol of the initial monomer.

Binary extraction of neodymium nitrate using 2-ethylhexylphosphonic acid 2-ethylhexyl mono ester and tri-n-octylamine

Journal of Molecular Liquids, 2019
In this study we investigate the Nd(NO3)3 extraction from neutral aqueous solutions with a binary extractant based on 2-ethylhexylphosphonic acid 2-ethylhexyl mono ester (HA) and tri-n-octylamine (NR3) in toluene.

Crystallographic study of neodymium nitrate hexahydrate

Journal of Solid State Chemistry, 1982
Crystallographic studies of Ln(NO/sub 3/)/sub 3/.6H/sub 2/O compounds have pointed out that rare earth nitrate hexahydrates, Ln = Pr, Nd, and Sm, are isotypic. However, their triclinic crystals were not described and no indexed X-ray diffractograms were published. In addition no crystalline parameter values were proposed for Nd(NO/sub 3/)/sub 3/.6H/sub

Utility of Anhydrous Neodymium Nitrate as a Precursor to Extended Organoneodymium Nitrate Networks

Inorganic Chemistry, 2004
Hydrated neodymium nitrates can be readily transformed to anhydrous ether solvates which react with cyclopentadienyl reagents to make organometallic nitrate complexes with variable degrees of oligomerization. Heating Nd(NO(3))(3)(H(2)O)(6) in tetrahydrofuran at reflux, removal of solvent, drying at 100 degrees C under high vacuum, and addition of hot ...

The thermal decomposition of neodymium nitrate

Thermochimica Acta, 1986
Abstract The thermal decomposition of Nd(NO3)3 was reinvestigated. The decomposition kinetics are described by a diffusion mechanism. The rate constant was found to be temperature dependent below 390°C with an apparent activation energy of 805 kJ mol−1 and almost temperature independent above 390°C with an apparent activation energy of 65 kJ mol−1 ...

Complex formation in the neodymium nitrate-tributyl phosphate-water system

Journal of Inorganic and Nuclear Chemistry, 1964
Abstract The solvent extraction system, neodymium nitrate-tributyl phosphate-water, was studied to obtain information on the nature of solvent-solute complex formation. Infra-red spectra of the organic phase and composition and weight measurements made with equilibrium experiments led to three primary conclusions: 1. (1) Complexing takes place at
