Neoplastic circulating endothelial cells in multiple myeloma with 13q14 deletion

open access: yesBlood, 2006
Abstract In multiple myeloma (MM), circulating endothelial cells (CECs) represent a vascular marker of angiogenesis and may reflect tumor mass. In this report, we showed that, in 5 MM patients with 13q14 deletion, CECs carried the same chromosome aberration as the neoplastic plasma cells (11%-32% of CECs with 13q14 deletion). Most of the

Sensitivity of canine hematological cancers to BH3 mimetics

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, 2023
Background Inhibition of antiapoptotic B‐cell lymphoma 2 (BCL2) proteins by small molecule Bcl‐2 homology 3 (BH3) mimetics causes rapid induction of apoptosis of human hematological cancers in vitro and in vivo.

Pivotal Role of Pervasive Neoplastic and Stromal Cells Reprogramming in Circulating Tumor Cells Dissemination and Metastatic Colonization [PDF]

open access: yesCancer Microenvironment, 2014
Reciprocal interactions between neoplastic cells and their microenvironment are crucial events in carcinogenesis and tumor progression. Pervasive stromal reprogramming and remodeling that transform a normal to a tumorigenic microenvironment modify numerous stromal cells functions, status redox, oxidative stress, pH, ECM stiffness and energy metabolism.

Less micrometastatic risk related to circulating tumor cells after endoscopic breast cancer surgery compared to open surgery

open access: yesBMC Cancer, 2019
Background Increase of circulating tumor cells (CTCs) has been found after surgery for various carcinomas but not confirmed for breast cancer, and whether endoscopic surgery confers identical effect to CTCs as open surgery did is not clear.

Prognostic Value of Multiple Reverse Transcription-PCR Tyrosinase Testing for Circulating Neoplastic Cells in Malignant Melanoma [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Chemistry, 2003
Abstract Background: The reverse transcription-PCR tyrosinase assay (TYR test) cannot reliably detect malignant melanoma (MM) cells in blood as the cells often circulate at low concentrations. We evaluated the prognostic value of multiple TYR testing, the prognostic significance of individual positive TYR test results (TYR+) in ...

Reduction of T Lymphoma Cells and Immunological Invigoration in a Patient Concurrently Affected by Melanoma and Sezary Syndrome Treated With Nivolumab

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2020
Despite the recent availability of several new drugs in hemato-oncology, T-cell lymphomas are still incurable and PD-1 blockade could represent a therapeutic chance for selected patients affected by these malignancies, although further studies are ...

Unique Immune Gene Expression Patterns in Bronchoalveolar Lavage and Tumor Adjacent Non-Neoplastic Lung Tissue in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2018
BackgroundThe immune cells in the local environments surrounding non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) implicate the balance of pro- and antitumor immunity; however, their transcriptomic profiles remain poorly understood.MethodsA transcriptomic microarray ...

Tumor-Infiltrating Macrophages in Post-Transplant, Relapsed Classical Hodgkin Lymphoma Are Donor-Derived. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
Tumor-associated inflammatory cells in classical Hodgkin lymphoma (CHL) typically outnumber the neoplastic Hodgkin/Reed-Sternberg (H/RS) cells. The composition of the inflammatory infiltrate, particularly the fraction of macrophages, has been associated ...

Circulating Tumor Cell Number Is Associated with Primary Tumor Volume in Patients with Lung Adenocarcinoma

open access: yesTuberculosis and Respiratory Diseases, 2020
Background Circulating tumor cells (CTCs) are frequently detected in patients with advanced-stage malignant tumors and could act as a predictor of poor prognosis.
