Stress-Induced Mutagenesis Can Further Boost Population Success in Static Ecology [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
We have developed a mathematical model that captures stress-induced mutagenesis, a fundamental aspect of pathogenic and neoplastic evolutionary dynamics, on the fitness landscape with multiple relevant genetic traits as a high-dimensional Euclidean space. In this framework, stress-induced mutagenesis manifests as a heterogeneous diffusion process.

KDM6A Deficiency Induces Myeloid Bias and Promotes CMML‐Like Disease Through JAK/STAT3 Activation by Repressing SOCS3

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Lysine demethylase 6A (KDM6A), an epigenetic regulator expressed in hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs), plays a critical role in hematopoietic homeostasis. Deficiency of KDM6A induces myeloid lineage skewing and drives the development of a chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML)‐like disease.

MicroRNAs involved in neoplastic transformation of liver cancer stem cells

open access: yesJournal of Experimental & Clinical Cancer Research, 2010
Background The existence of cancer stem cells in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) has been verified by characterizing side population (SP) cells based on efflux of Hoechst 33342 dye from stem cells. Recent advances in microRNA (miRNA) biology have revealed

Expression of platelet-derived growth factor-beta receptor and bovine papillomavirus E5 and E7 oncoproteins in equine sarcoid. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Equine sarcoids are benign fibroblastic skin tumours that are recognized throughout the world. Infection with bovine papillomavirus (BPV) types 1 and 2 has been implicated as a major factor in disease development; however, the cellular mechanisms ...

Non-linear relationship of cell hit and transformation probabilities in a low dose of inhaled radon progenies [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Cellular hit probabilities of alpha particles emitted by inhaled radon progenies in sensitive bronchial epithelial cell nuclei were simulated at low exposure levels to obtain useful data for the rejection or support of the linear-non-threshold (LNT ...

Targeting miRNA‐1a and miRNA‐15b: A Novel Combinatorial Strategy to Drive Adult Cardiac Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The article explores a novel therapeutic strategy for cardiac regeneration by targeting miRNA‐1a and miRNA‐15b. Combinatorial inhibition of miR‐1a and miR‐15b enhances cardiomyocyte proliferation, improves heart function, and reduces fibrosis in myocardial infarction models.
