Affinity‐Tuned Albumin Hitchhiking Extends the Bioorthogonal Capture Window in Pretargeting Radiotheranostics

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Pharmacokinetic engineering of clickable radioligands was achieved via albumin hitchhiking approach within a pretargeted radiotheranostics delivery platform. This approach reduced rapid renal elimination, expanded bioorthogonal capture window, boosted tumor uptake by ∼3.5‐fold, and improved the tumor‐to‐liver ratio by ∼6‐fold.

Cellular Basis of Aminoglycoside Nephrotoxicity [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
Nephrotoxicity, produced by aminoglycoside antibiotics, is now being studied in a useful model of cultured renal cells. These studies could provide new insights into an important clinical problem by disclosing the transport mechanisms of aminoglycoside ...

Vancomycin Induced Nephrotoxicity: A Case Report [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Nephrotoxicity associated with vancomycin is a commonly feared and mainly preventable adverse effect. Non-severe cases of vancomycin nephrotoxicity resolve upon discontinuation of the medication.

Concomitant palonosetron ameliorates cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity, nausea, and vomiting: a retrospective cohort study and pharmacovigilance analysis

open access: yesJournal of Pharmaceutical Health Care and Sciences, 2022
Background Cisplatin (CDDP)-induced nephrotoxicity is the most important complication of CDDP treatment. 5-Hydroxytryptamine type 3 receptor antagonists (5-HT3RAs) are widely used to prevent chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV).

Recent Advances in Ferrite‐Based Materials for Biomedical Applications: A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Ferrite nanoplatforms are presented as tunable biomedical materials in which synthesis control, cation engineering, defect/morphology regulation, and surface functionalization govern structure–property–bioactivity relationships. These design strategies enable multifunctional applications including MRI contrast, magnetic hyperthermia, targeted drug ...

The development of a cellular model of nephrosis to evaluate nephrotoxic biomarkers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
Nephrotoxicity is one of the major causes for compound failure late in the drug development process. Pharmaceutical companies are interested in identifying biomarkers of nephrotoxicity which can be used to identify potential toxic compounds earlier in ...

Comparison of preventive effects of combined furosemide and mannitol versus single diuretics, furosemide or mannitol, on cisplatin-induced nephrotoxicity

open access: yesScientific Reports
Cisplatin (CDDP)-induced nephrotoxicity is a common dose-limiting toxicity, and diuretics are often administered to prevent nephrotoxicity. However, the efficacy and optimal administration of diuretics in preventing CDDP-induced nephrotoxicity remain to ...

Urine kidney injury molecule-1 predicts subclinical kidney disease among persons living with HIV initiating tenofovir disoproxil fumarate-based ART in Zambia

open access: yesFrontiers in Nephrology
IntroductionAntiretroviral therapy (ART) increases the life expectancy of persons living with HIV (PLWH), but not without potentially serious adverse effects.

Negotiating in a Foreign Land: Understanding the Curious Interactions Between Intracellular Mitochondria and Internalized Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
Therapeutic nano‐drug delivery systems interact with cellular mitochondria in a multitude of ways. While the complexity of such interactions disrupts the mitochondrial electron transport chain and increases reactive oxygen species production, thereby contributing to nanoparticle toxicity, they also present unique theranostic opportunities in diseases ...

A review on antibiotics induced nephrotoxicity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
One of the common causes of acute kidney injury (AKI) is drug nephrotoxicity. AKIs around 20-60% in hospitalised patients are caused by drug-induced nephrotoxicity, which is also linked to higher morbidity and death both in children and adults ...
