Prospects of peripheral nerve tissue engineering using nerve guide conduits based on silk fibroin protein and other biopolymers

International Materials Reviews, 2016
ABSTRACTPeripheral nerve injuries face some clinical obstacles and unsatisfactory functional outcomes. The slow regeneration rate of defected nerve delays functional recovery. To date, various therapeutic agents are used to enhance the survival and regeneration capacity of damaged neurons.

Physicochemical analysis of a protein with nerve growth activity from the muscle tissue of Rana ridibunda

Chemistry of Natural Compounds, 1992
A protein nerve growth factor has been isolated in the pure form from the muscles of the lake frogRana ridibunda. The individuality of the substance obtained has been shown, its molecular mass (106.0–110.0 kDa) and pI value (9.2–9.4) have been determined, and lysine and valine have been found as the N- and C-terminal amino acid residues of its ...

Myelin basic protein in the optic nerve of the developing albino rat: An immunoperoxidase study of paraffin embedded tissue

Neurochemical Research, 1984
The distribution of myelin basic protein (MBP) was determined by application of the unlabeled peroxidase-anti-peroxidase method to sections of paraffin embedded optic nerve taken from the developing albino rat. MBP was not detected in optic nerves from animals younger than 90 hours postnatum.

Target evaluation processing and serum levels of nerve tissue protein S100B in patients with remitted major depression

Neuroscience Letters, 2004
Selective attention processes (N2 and P3 components of event-related potentials (ERPs)) have been shown to be impaired in depressed patients but findings have been mixed. Part of this variability might be explained by neurobiological factors. ERPs (Go/Nogo paradigm) were investigated in patients with remitted major depression in relation to S100B ...

Effect of artificial gravity in space flight on the content of water-soluble proteins in nerve tissue structures

Bulletin of Experimental Biology and Medicine, 1978
The content of water-soluble proteins was investigated in the gray and white matter of the spinal cord, the spinal ganglia, and the sensomotor cortex of rats after a space flight lasting 18.5 days. The content of water-soluble proteins in the gray and white matter of the spinal cord and in the spinal ganglia of rats exposed to the action of ...

[Changes in expression of motor protein for axonal transport in nerve tissues of carbon disulfide-intoxicated rats].

Zhonghua lao dong wei sheng zhi ye bing za zhi = Zhonghua laodong weisheng zhiyebing zazhi = Chinese journal of industrial hygiene and occupational diseases, 2014
To study the changes in microtubule motor protein expression in the spinal cord and sciatic nerve of rats exposed to carbon disulfide, and to investigate the possible molecular mechanism of changes in axonal transport in carbon disulfide-induced peripheral neuropathy.Healthy adult male Wistar rats were randomly divided into one control group and three ...

Glial fibrillary acidic protein in the optic nerve of the developing albino rat: An immunoperoxidase study of paraffin‐embedded tissue

Journal of Comparative Neurology, 1981
AbstractThe unlabeled peroxidase‐anti‐peroxidase method was used to stain glial fibrillary acidic (GFA) protein in the optic nerve of the developing albino rat. Optic nerves from animals ranging in age from the day of birth to adulthood were embedded in paraffin following fixation with various agents for times ranging from 30 minutes to 48 hours.

Nerve growth factor mRNA and protein levels measured in the same tissue from normal and Alzheimer's disease parietal cortex

Molecular Brain Research, 1996
Nerve growth factor (NGF) mRNA and protein levels were determined in parietal cortex samples from both normal and Alzheimer's disease (AD) patients. NGF protein levels were slightly elevated in AD patients compared to controls, but NGF mRNA levels were unchanged in the same tissue samples.

Laser-Activated Solid Protein Solder for Nerve Repair: In Vitro Studies of Tensile Strength and Solder/Tissue Temperature

Lasers in Medical Science, 1999
. Laser-activated solid protein solder strips have been developed for peripheral nerve repair. Indocyanine green dye added to the solder strongly absorbs diode wavelengths (∼800 nm) and causes localised heating and coagulation of the albumin protein solder.
